Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Malachy Poinan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Malachy, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I keep my creativity alive by always diving into new experiences. Trying out different things constantly shifts my perspective and keeps me sharp and inspired.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
So, I’ve been keeping myself pretty occupied with all sorts of stuff, trying out different things and gaining quite a bit of experience over the years. But these days, my main gig is all about diving into the world of digital media in sports, specifically focusing on golf. I’m all about creating cool content and helping out with social media stuff in that space.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I feel like the top three things that really matter are confidence, keeping at it consistently, and staying grounded in reality. The first two, well, they kinda speak for themselves, right? But that third one, that’s a bit trickier. It’s tough to wrap your head around being real with yourself, especially when you’re setting high standards. And honestly, it can swing both ways – either being overly sure of yourself or not feeling confident at all. There are times when you just gotta pause, take a breather, and really assess what you’re up to. Cut yourself some slack if needed, or give yourself that extra push if things call for it.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
One significant challenge I’ve encountered is the absence of a degree. Initially, I was quite confident that pursuing a degree wasn’t essential, given the prevailing sentiment at the time. Unfortunately, I didn’t act swiftly enough to capitalize on that perspective. Consequently, I find myself somewhat disadvantaged. Nevertheless, I’m taking proactive steps to address this by re-enrolling in school to bridge the gap.
