Meet Malaysha Thompson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Malaysha Thompson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Malaysha, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Growing up in a difficult environment, I learned my strong work ethic from the majority of my family. I observed their relentless efforts in ensuring that everything was well taken care of. Out of all of them, my mother, father and grandparents were the most influential in motivating me to persist and never give up. They taught me that success and failure are inevitable, but to achieve my aspirations and dreams, I must continue working hard and strive towards my goals.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Malaysha Thompson, and I am both a wedding planner and the proud owner of events come true in Baltimore, MD. With a professional experience of 8 years, my passion for wedding planning was ignited by witnessing my late stepmother, Tanika Thompson, skillfully organize our family events, including her own wedding. Being a planner grants me immense happiness, as I am truly enchanted by love. Witnessing the unification of two individuals melts my heart, and it’s the exchange of vows and the presence of love in the room that never fails to bring tears to my eyes. With my wedding planning services, I provide 4 diverse packages that cater to all your requirements and desires, ensuring that your special day is exactly how you envisioned it. The uniqueness of my packages lies in the fact that in most of them, you won’t have to do anything at all—I am your dependable wedding planner from the moment you make a booking. I firmly believe that wedding planning should be enjoyable, not a source of stress, which is why I am here to alleviate any burdens. Additionally, I am the proud owner of Linens Come True, a table linen business.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
What had the most impact on my journey were the following: maintaining motivation by speaking positively about my business, networking with other planners, watching YouTube videos, and participating in webinars. A piece of advice I would give is to persist and not give up. Even though there may be others in the same industry, remember that you are unique. Stay motivated and grounded, seek assistance when necessary, take the necessary actions to continuously grow your business, and don’t let external factors affect you.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Promoting my business with rebranding, marketing, and overcoming procrastination have been the key areas where I have witnessed significant growth and improvement. Additionally, I have worked on establishing more platforms to attract a larger client base, and most importantly, I have developed a strong belief in myself as a wedding planner. It has become apparent to me that without putting in the necessary effort, a business cannot achieve success.
