Meet Malaysia Harrell

We recently connected with Malaysia Harrell and have shared our conversation below.

Malaysia, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience was not given, it was forged.
I grew up in an environment where survival came before self-expression. Abuse was a silent presence in my childhood, shaping the way I saw the world and myself. At an age when most children were learning to play, I was learning to protect: my siblings, my spirit, and any fragile sense of safety we could find. Responsibility didn’t wait for permission; it became my reality. I was a caretaker before I even understood what childhood was supposed to feel like.
After September 11, 2001, I joined the military, yearning for a life of service, structure, and stability. What I found was both purpose and pressure. I wore the uniform proudly, but beneath the surface, I was still fighting battles no one could see. I became a master of performance, earning medals, accolades, and respect, while my inner world quietly unraveled.
Then came the moment that changed everything: a near-death experience in 2020, that brought me face to face with my own mortality. I was misdiagnosed, dismissed, and left to advocate for myself in ways I never imagined I’d have to. That hospital bed became both a breaking point and a birthing place. I realized then that resilience isn’t about never falling apart, it’s about choosing to rise, again and again, with intention, faith, and purpose.
I get my resilience from the fire that tried to consume me but couldn’t. From the God who walked me through the valley and whispered, “You’re not done yet.” From every scar that became a story, and every moment of silence that taught me how to listen to my soul.
Resilience, for me, is not a badge, it’s a calling, And I carry it not as proof that I’ve never been broken, but as evidence that I refused to stay that way.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a board-certified psychotherapist, veteran, spiritual transformation coach, author, keynote speaker, Philanthropist, and the founder and CEO of Blissful Life Consulting. But beyond the titles, what I truly do is guide high-achieving women to get in alignment with their divine assignment so they can follow their souls calling. My work sits at the intersection of mental health, spirituality, and purpose. I specialize in helping
others release trauma-fueled ambition, unlearn performance-based worth, and realign their lives
with their truth. After nearly 30 years in the mental health field and over two decades of military
service, I now create transformational spaces where people can unmask, heal, and remember
who they were before the world told them who they had to be.

What makes my work exciting is that it’s deeply personal and powerfully universal. I don’t just
teach these principles, I live them. After surviving childhood abuse, navigating the rigid systems
of the military, and recovering from a near-death experience due to sepsis that nearly silenced
me for good, I understand what it means to rebuild a life that feels meaningful.

Right now, I’m anticipating the release of my debut independently published book, ‘God Has My
Six’, a deeply personal and powerful memoir that chronicles my journey from trauma to
transformation, and from survival to sacred alignment. It’s not just a book. It’s a calling answered. It’s the story I once was too afraid to tell, now offered as a lifeline to every woman who has ever wondered if her pain had a purpose. God Has My Six peels back the layers of my life, my childhood marked by physical, emotional, and sexual trauma, my time in the military where strength became my armor, and my near-death experience that forced me to confront
everything I had buried in order to keep going. It’s an honest, soul-baring reflection of what it
means to lead, love, and live while carrying invisible wounds and how I eventually found healing
not just through therapy or faith alone, but through radical self-permission. It also offers a
healing and transformation blueprint for people who want to free themselves from mental and
emotional bondage and the shackles of the world’s expectations.

In addition, I’m expanding my wellness brand, Blissful Life Consulting, into retreats, group
intensives, workplace wellness, and a digital healing community. We’re currently building a platform that will serve thousands across the globe with access to culturally competent coaching, spiritual healing, and holistic leadership development. This isn’t just a business, it’s a movement rooted in liberation and legacy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

There are three foundational truths that have radically shaped my journey and continue to guide my path today: the art of surrender, the courage to remove the mask, and the unwavering belief that God has my six, that we are the living, breathing manifestation of God’s dream for our lives.
First, the art of surrender.
For most of my life, I was a fighter. I fought for respect, for safety, for survival, for success. But what I learned, often through pain, is that true strength is not always in the push. It is in the release. Surrender is not weakness, it is spiritual wisdom. It’s trusting that you don’t have to control every outcome to arrive at your purpose. The sooner you learn to let go of what you thought life was supposed to look like, the sooner you’ll step into what it was always meant to be. My advice for anyone starting out is this: hold your vision tight, but hold the path loosely. Let God lead.
Second, the day you remove the mask is the day you begin to live free.
I wore so many masks, perfection, performance, emotional invincibility. But none of them brought me closer to peace. When I finally allowed myself to be seen fully, messy, tender, powerful, and healing, I began to magnetize the opportunities, relationships, and impact that had been waiting for the real me all along. You can’t heal what you pretend isn’t there, and you can’t fully soar while hiding your wings. Authenticity is the soil of true transformation. So, be brave enough to be seen.
Third, understanding that God has my six.
This isn’t just a mantra, it’s a spiritual anchor. It means I walk boldly because I know I am covered. I take risks, I speak truth, I build what doesn’t yet exist, because I trust that the God who placed the vision inside me also placed provision ahead of me. If you’re just beginning your journey, know this: you are not random. You are not here by accident. You are the manifestation of God’s divine blueprint. You don’t have to prove your worth, you only have to remember it.
To the ones just starting, don’t be afraid to grow slowly. Just don’t stop. Keep your heart tender, your spirit open, and your faith rooted. The world doesn’t need a perfect version of you. It needs the real one, the one with sacred scars, divine fire, and a story only you can tell.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, absolutely. I’m always open to partnering with purpose-driven individuals, brands, and organizations who are committed to healing, transformation, and impact. I especially welcome collaborations that center around mental wellness, spiritual growth, women’s empowerment, veteran advocacy, and holistic living.
Whether you’re a wellness brand, a podcast host, a fellow coach, or a company looking to cultivate culture through wellness and alignment. I’d love to explore how our missions align. I don’t believe in transactional partnerships. I believe in transformational ones. Because when we combine stories, skills, and soul, we don’t just create content—we create change.
If you’re reading this and something in your spirit says *“yes” I’d love to hear from you.
