Meet Maleah Washington

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maleah Washington. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Maleah , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I am very cognizant that I come from a lineage of women whom have endured and overcome some of the most challenging and disheartening experiences. They have shown and taught me that regardless of what challenges present themselves, you are always capable of coming out on the other end and cultivating a beautiful life for yourself. I recognize that because I derive from these women, I too can and do channel and embody that same resilience. I also reflect upon the challenges and experiences that I initially felt I could not handle or make it out of, and did indeed overcome and pull myself out of. So when I am met with strife, I remind myself that if I have made it through every other thing life has thrown at me- I can make it through this too. I utilize my previous experiences to empower me and remind me of who I am when I am met with future obstacles.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Maleah and I am the owner of Fck It We Heal, a metaphysical business that offers a variety of services and products that are cultivated with intention. Fck It We Heal has been open for business for about three years. The purpose of creating my business is to encourage the community to lean into healthier ways of perceiving and maneuvering through life through a deeper understanding of self and providing the guidance and tools necessary to do so. A major part of our society is operating in ways that are rooted in survival, and I am here to show the community that there is more to life than feeling like you just have to survive. You deserve to truly live. You deserve to feel safe. You deserve to understand and pinpoint where these behaviors are rooted from so that you are able to heal and recondition your psyche. Intentionality and understanding is the key to evolution, and at Fck It We Heal we are always doing what is necessary to put our clientele and the community in a better position mentally, physically, and spiritually. In terms of my practice, I do utilize Hoodoo and Southern Traditional Rootwork as it is apart of my lineage. I take pride and passion in what I do because I truly feel that people deserve to heal, evolve, and be at peace in this life and to be trusted within playing a role in that process is an honor to me.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Compassion, consistency, and maintaining a healthy mindset. In terms of compassion, I feel that is something that has always come very naturally for me. There is a necessity to care for those that you are choosing to assist, and to value the impact that you are going to have on their lives. Compassion is necessary to truly connect with the people that are not only around you, but that are desiring you for assistance. For those who may still be working on building their compassion, I would recommend spending more time with people. All different kinds of people. And being open to their stories, conversations, and experiences. In terms of consistency, this is a quality that has been crucial in my evolution. Consistency in my eyes goes hand in hand with mindset, because your mindset impacts the way in which you make an effort in your life. At the start of my journey, I would allow any obstacle to stagnate my efforts, so I found myself in a unhealthy cycle that also negatively impacted my mental health. I gave entirely too much energy and focus to the negative emotions that came along with these obstacles. I reached a point where I was genuinely tired of letting every single negative thing knock me down, and I recognized that if I continued to operate this way I would not able to be happy or succeed in the way that I truly desired. I said to myself “If I let everything knock me down, Ill never stay up for long.” I forced myself to push through the un comfortability even when I didn’t want to, to prove to myself that I was capable of cultivating success, consistency, and peace even in moments of being faced with adversity. To show myself that even in moments where I feel like I “can’t.” I really can. I put more intentionality behind what I was focusing on and feeding into, and chose to focus on what was actually going right in my life in order to uplift and empower myself. By shifting my mindset, I was able to be more consistent within my efforts because I felt balanced mentally physically and spiritually.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am more than open and desiring to connect with other creatives, practitioners, and business owners. Community is essential not only in life but in business. I love connecting with, learning from, and working with others! I truly feel that when talented people come together with intention, the impact is beautiful.
