Meet Malery Klingshirn

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Malery Klingshirn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Malery below.

Hi Malery, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Developing confidence and self-esteem is not always the easiest thing to do, but I think it is something we can always strive to work on each and every day. In addition to that, I believe it is important to encourage others to do the same – take the risk and believe in yourself!

I’d be lying if I said it was easy for me to take risks. I’d like to consider myself an adventurous person, but when it comes to my business and my dreams, I tend to think a bit too deeply. The quote that comes to mind when I think of this question is to “be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.” – Jennifer Lee

Three years ago, I started a spray tanning business and soon added teeth-whitening services. It didn’t take long after that for me to gain the confidence to start what I have always dreamed of: a women’s boutique.

I believe the businesses that I have started go hand in hand with confidence and self-esteem. Spray tanning was never this crazy dream of mine that I knew I wanted to pursue, but soon after starting, I realized what joy it brought me when I was able to give these beautiful ladies a boost of confidence. I have loved getting to know my amazing clients and customers over the years and have been so inspired by them.

I have always had a passion for fashion and have loved sharing my personal closet with my gals. It always boosted my confidence when my friends came to me for fashion advice or when they needed an outfit for a special event throughout the years. My dreams of having a boutique slowly came to fruition, and last year I launched my online boutique, Shop Glow Btq.

When you think about it, everything you do in life has a risk, but if you do not take that risk, you will never know what the outcome could be, and you’ll be stuck in the wondering and the “what if’s.” To me, not knowing is worse than knowing, and it may not work out. I don’t know if I believe in failing because as long as you are working towards what you love, you’ll never fail a day in your life.

If anyone reading this is questioning their confidence or that risk they may take, you already have your answer. If it wasn’t planted in your heart for a reason, you wouldn’t be questioning it in the first place.

When I look back on the years, these businesses have turned into so much more than I could ever imagine, and it pushes me to encourage others to believe in themselves, walk with confidence and continue to lift others up in all they do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
When people ask why I started my spray tanning business, it used to be hard for me to give an exact answer. As I mentioned, spray tanning was never my long-term dream—I have many of those, by the way! Spray tanning was just something I could do alongside my sales job to make a little extra cash and get me into the world of being a business owner, which I knew I always wanted. I loved getting to know my clients and hearing about them, their families, their lives, and all of the ups and downs they shared with me in confidence. I didn’t know I would build such a prodigious community out of something I found so simple in the beginning.
I have always had a fiery passion in my heart to start a boutique, and I pushed it off for so long. After a few years of spray tanning and teeth whitening, I came upon a note I wrote to myself when I was a little gal. It was a note about my dreams of fashion. It was just the right kick in the booty that I needed. I immediately began to work on how I could make this work and wondered why I had pushed this passion of mine off for so long. After a lot of thought, I found the confidence and courage to start one of my life-long dreams, and Shop Glow Btq (SGB) began! I am so excited to see where this beautiful life takes me, and I can’t wait to share some amazing things I have in the works. (I know, kind of a cliffhanger, huh.)

I have met so many incredible people throughout my journey, and I feel that I have truly found my purpose in where I am and am growing in my business. I would not be where I am today without the amazing support of my husband and my beautiful friends, family, and clients. It has truly touched my heart that others trust and come to me for a boost of confidence and self-esteem, whether that is through a spray tan, a teeth-whitening session, or even an outfit that is perfect for them!

If you are ever in need of a spray tan, teeth-whitening, a fun outfit, or just a friend to chat with… I am always here!!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the three qualities, skills or areas of knowledge that stick out to me are kindness, leadership, and creativity.

I believe in kindness, and I also believe the world needs more of it. We often spend so much time and energy being negative toward ourselves that we miss the beautiful things others may see. This can be personally and/or in our business.

The second is leadership. I love being around other leaders and business owners. I think it is important to have a community that you support and that supports you back. There are so many amazing businesses out there; some may have similar interests, and some may be completely different. The important thing to know is that no one is exactly the same as you, and that is a beautiful gift we all have. Build each other up, push each other forward, and lead together. There are so many things I have learned from the other leaders I am surrounded by!

Lastly, creativity. I have loved the creative side of my business. It has allowed me an outlet to show more of who I really am. I love creating graphics, gathering with other local businesses for pop-up events, and more. I think it is beautiful to see others create a space in the world through the passions they have.

My best advice is to believe in YOU. Continue to be kind, work hard for what you love, and never be afraid to show the world who you are! There isn’t a single person that is exactly like you, and that is a gift we are all blessed to have.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I love collaborating with other small businesses! I have done a lot of giveaways with local shops and online small businesses that are states away! I also host pop-ups for my businesses and always enjoy meeting others that want to share their passion through their business.

I recently launched an influencer program for my online women’s boutique and have had so much fun getting to know these gals and create content for my business.

If any of this sparks an interest, please feel free to reach out to me at mal.shopglowbtq@gmail.com

I would love to meet you and talk about how we can collaborate. 🙂
