We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Malisa Michelle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Malisa below.
Hi Malisa , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I was born in the sixties, during the heart of the Civil Rights Movement—a time when the fight for freedom and equality was not just a national cause but a daily reality for so many. Growing up during such a pivotal era shaped my understanding of resilience, as I witnessed both the challenges and the triumphs of those who came before me. On top of that, being a child of a broken family and constantly facing struggles taught me early on how to persevere, adapt, and push forward, no matter the obstacles. Those experiences instilled in me a strength that has carried me through life’s ups and downs. Resilience, for me, isn’t just about surviving; it’s about finding purpose and power in the face of adversity.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the proud owner and founder of Sweet Callie Rose, LLC, where our motto is “Nurturing Beauty, One Petal at a Time.” Sweet Callie Rose is a premium hair and skincare brand dedicated to creating high-quality, natural, and organic products that celebrate and enhance beauty. Our product line includes a variety of haircare essentials designed to promote healthy hair growth, luxurious skincare items that nourish and rejuvenate, and a specialized line of natural beard oil and beard butter for a complete and elevated grooming experience. At Sweet Callie Rose, we believe in the power of nature to transform beauty routines and prioritize self-care that aligns with your well-being and confidence.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Resilience allowed me to push forward in the face of challenges, setbacks, and uncertainty. It taught me that success isn’t about avoiding failure but about how you rise after each stumble. For those starting their journey, resilience can be developed by reframing challenges as opportunities for growth, embracing discomfort, and remembering that perseverance often outweighs perfection.
Adaptability was crucial because nothing in life or business goes exactly as planned. The ability to adjust quickly to change and stay open to new ideas helped me navigate unexpected situations with confidence. To cultivate adaptability, practice staying flexible, embrace problem-solving, and see change as a chance to innovate rather than something to fear.
A commitment to continuous learning was transformative, as it kept me evolving personally and professionally. Whether it was learning new skills, staying current with trends, or seeking mentorship, I remained a student of life. For those early in their journey, make learning a habit—read, take courses, network, and be curious. Knowledge is a tool that can set you apart and open doors you didn’t know existed.
My advice? Be patient with yourself, stay open to growth, and never underestimate the power of perseverance. Success is a journey, not a destination, and every step teaches you something valuable.
