Meet Malka Espinel Espinel

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Malka Espinel Espinel . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Malka Espinel below.

Malka Espinel , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I get my resilience from my mother, Rebeca. She inspired me to be independent, which is why I chose the path of becoming a chef. My mother was a fierce caregiver to her family and she was an entrepreneur.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My specialty is making delicious cakes for weddings and special occasions or any occasion. My brand is Malka Creative + Delicious. I work with a small group of professionals for weddings and events. I also am the Pastry Chef of Timo Restaurant in Sunny Isles Beach. I am a professor of Pastry at Miami Dade Culinary Institute.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

First I had a wonderful example of work ethic from my parents. I also found my passion in food, ingredients, cooking. Eventually I specialized in pastry and developed skills in school and my grit in tough restaurant kitchens.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is a person about to celebrate a special occasion, a special person or for any reason. I make bespoke cakes for passionate clients wanting to gift and or share my cakes and desserts with others. Hospitality is what I provide in the form of a delicious wedding or special occasion cake or dessert. My ideal client is anyone.
