Meet Mallory Bouchard

We were lucky to catch up with Mallory Bouchard recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Mallory, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes directly from my mom and the example both my parents set throughout my childhood. Growing up, work wasn’t something we talked about—it was simply woven into the fabric of our daily lives. Whether we were helping out at the family restaurant or going door to door selling homemade cookies to pay for our extracurricular activities, my parents instilled in us the understanding that if we wanted something, we worked for it. Those early experiences taught me more than just responsibility; they showed me the value of initiative, perseverance, and taking pride in what you do. My mom, in particular, modeled an unwavering commitment to showing up and giving your best, no matter the task. That foundation has carried me through every stage of building Bouchard Design Collective—it’s why I approach each project with the same dedication, attention to detail, and drive to deliver exceptional results for my clients.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

At Bouchard Design Collective, we specialize in creating luxury interior environments for high-end residential new builds, boutique hospitality spaces, and sports entertainment venues across the Mountain West and beyond. What excites me most about this work is the opportunity to craft spaces that are deeply personal and profoundly connected to their surroundings—where modern sophistication meets the raw beauty of mountain landscapes. We don’t just design rooms; we orchestrate entire experiences through our six-phase process, from initial programming and schematic design through white glove installation and home reveal, ensuring every detail is thoughtfully considered and flawlessly executed.
What sets us apart is our commitment to hyper-realistic visualization using Revit for all construction documents and renderings, allowing clients to see and feel their spaces before a single wall goes up. Our design philosophy centers on modern-contemporary aesthetics enriched with organic materials, biophilic elements, and luxurious textiles that create environments as livable as they are beautiful. We’re particularly passionate about indoor/outdoor living and seamless material transitions that honor the natural landscape.
This year has been especially meaningful—we recently won our first design award as Bouchard Design Collective, marking a proud milestone as an independent business. We’re currently expanding our reach throughout the Mountain West, with particular focus on Salt Lake City, Park City, Big Sky, and Jackson Hole, and we’re excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what luxury mountain living can be.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities have been absolutely foundational to my journey: resilience, attention to detail, and the ability to build genuine relationships.

Resilience has carried me through the inevitable challenges of entrepreneurship—from rebranding the business to navigating complex, multi-year projects where countless variables can shift. The interior design industry demands adaptability, especially when managing multiple projects simultaneously with timelines spanning two to three years. My advice for those starting out: embrace setbacks as learning opportunities rather than failures. The work ethic I developed early on—helping at my family’s restaurant and hustling to fund my own activities—taught me that persistence and showing up consistently, even when it’s hard, is what separates those who succeed from those who don’t.

Attention to detail is non-negotiable in luxury design. Our clients invest significant resources into their homes, and they expect every element—from the way light interacts with paint colors to the precise alignment of materials—to be executed flawlessly. This skill develops through practice and genuine curiosity about how things work. My recommendation: slow down and truly observe. Study how materials age, how spaces function, and how small decisions compound into transformative results. Mastery comes from caring deeply about the details others might overlook.

Building genuine relationships has been the cornerstone of our growth. The majority of our business comes through referrals, which only happens when you deliver exceptional work and treat every client, contractor, and vendor with respect and integrity. Early in your journey, invest in people—listen more than you speak, follow through on commitments, and approach every interaction as an opportunity to add value. Relationships built on trust and authenticity will sustain your business far beyond any marketing strategy.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Looking back, two books have profoundly shaped how I approach both business and life: “Above the Line” by Urban Meyer and “Raving Fans” by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles.

Urban Meyer’s philosophy around “above the line” thinking—focusing on what you can control, responding with intention rather than reacting emotionally, and maintaining discipline in pursuit of excellence—has been transformative for managing the complexity of luxury design projects. In an industry where timelines shift, budgets fluctuate, and countless variables are beyond your control, staying “above the line” means channeling energy into solutions, communication, and proactive problem-solving rather than getting derailed by circumstances. Meyer’s emphasis on building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement resonates deeply with how we operate at Bouchard Design Collective—every project is an opportunity to level up, refine our process, and deliver at the highest standard.

“Raving Fans” fundamentally changed how I think about client relationships. The book’s central message—that satisfied customers aren’t enough; you need to create raving fans who enthusiastically refer you to others—became the foundation of our business model. Since the majority of our work comes through referrals, we don’t just aim to meet expectations; we obsess over exceeding them at every touchpoint, from our hyper-realistic renderings to our white glove installation process. The book taught me that exceptional service isn’t about grand gestures—it’s about consistent attention to detail, genuine care, and delivering an experience so remarkable that clients can’t help but share it. That philosophy has been instrumental in building lasting relationships and a reputation rooted in trust and excellence.
