We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Manaia Roserens. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Manaia below.
Manaia, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
For me, hate and envy have been the biggest motivators. When I first started making music, people called it embarrassing, but as I started seeing success, that turned into envy and negativity. I’ve lost a lot of people because of it, but that only showed me who was real and who wasn’t. Instead of letting the hate slow me down, I use it as fuel to work harder, grow as an artist, and prove that I’m on the right path.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m YoungKvyn, a rapper who’s been steadily building his own sound and movement. For me, music isn’t just about making songs—it’s about telling my story in a way that people can feel, whether it’s the grind, the struggles, or the wins. What excites me most right now is seeing how far things have come: I’ve been dropping new music, collaborating with other talented artists, releasing visuals, and now stepping into live shows for the first time.
What makes my brand special is the authenticity behind it. I don’t try to be someone I’m not—my music is raw, real, and always evolving. Every release is another level up, and every move I make is about showing that I’m serious about this and here to stay. I see my journey as more than just music; it’s about building something bigger, inspiring people who relate to my story, and proving what’s possible when you don’t give up.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Consistency is everything—no matter how talented you are, if you’re not showing up and putting in the work day after day, it won’t add up. My advice is to keep creating even when no one’s watching, because that’s how you build momentum.
Resilience has been just as important. In music, you face rejection, hate, envy, and setbacks. What kept me moving was learning to take every “no” or every bit of negativity as fuel instead of letting it break me. If you can bounce back stronger, you’ll always be ahead.
And finally, authenticity—staying true to yourself and your vision. People connect with what’s real, and in a world full of copies, being genuine is your biggest advantage. Don’t chase trends, build something that feels like you.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Right now, my biggest obstacle is marketing and promotion. Making music has always come naturally to me, but getting it in front of the right people is the hardest part. To overcome that, I’ve been experimenting with everything I can—dropping my first music video, creating short clips, using memes, and even running paid promotions. I’m constantly testing new ways to connect with listeners and build momentum. It’s a challenge, but I see it as part of the grind, and I know that if I keep pushing and learning, the right strategies will click and take my music further.
