Meet Mandy Edwards

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mandy Edwards. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Mandy, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I am strong in my faith and I know helping others is one of my purposes. I am a big proponent of servant leadership. To lead you must serve others. I find my purpose through doing that – serving and helping others. I joke I would do my job for free but I have two daughters (haha). I truly enjoy helping other people and businesses find success, and when I do I know my purpose for doing what I do.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Mandy Edwards, and I am ME Marketing Services. Alongside a remote team, we are the oldest digital marketing agency in Southeast Georgia.

Anyone who knows me knows I really don’t like talking about myself. I’d rather find out more about you! However since this is for you to get to know the company, and hence, me, I step out of my comfort zone.

I have always had a desire to help others. After 10+ years in sales and marketing, I branched out in 2011 on my own to start ME Marketing Services.

How did I get to now? It all started when I graduated from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia with a degree in General Business & Marketing in 2001. Go Dawgs!

As an undergraduate at UGA, I was involved in Baptist Collegiate Ministries (formerly known as the Baptist Student Union) where I established their first website and was responsible for media for the weekly worship gathering. While in business school, I served as Pledge President and later Vice President of Pi Sigma Epsilon Marketing Fraternity, helping our chapter win national recognition at the 2001 National PSE Conference in Dallas, Texas.

After graduating, I worked in the newspaper advertising industry for almost 5 years before serving as the local Marketing Director for our Chick-fil-A Restaurant. After taking a break from full-time work when I become a mom for the second time, I took on the marketing for the local franchise of Bruster’s Ice Cream where I got the opportunity to present at their corporate office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on local store marketing.

After receiving several inquires for contract marketing services, I dove head-first into entrepreneurship and started ME Marketing Services in June 2011. I work with businesses to help them find their place and their customers online through digital marketing.

My heart is in serving businesses. I work continually to educate myself in the latest in social media and digital marketing – from AI, apps, tools, Terms of Service changes to platform changes. I always have a pulse on what is going on. I serve businesses in consulting, training, and managing social media. And in the last few years we’ve expanded and added website design, incorporating a side project into a full-time business offering.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three for me would be a willingness to learn and accept you don’t know everything, being open to trying new things/tactics, and knowing when you need to ask for help.

Especially working in digital marketing where things change daily, you have to be willing to learn and try new things for your clients. Having an open mind is essential. Some marketing “gurus” or “experts” think they know it all and there is no way they can with the landscape changing daily, especially where AI is. I think it’s important also to have enough self-awareness to know when you need help. We can’t do it all – focus on what you are really good at and outsource the rest!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was tell me I could do anything. There was no limit to what I could or want to achieve. They encouraged me and supported me. They did not have the mindset that because I was a girl I was expected to get married, stay home, and have kids (there are some who want exactly that – and that is totally okay). If I wanted to, I could go to college, become a doctor or something else, get married if I wanted, etc. They did not place limits or unrealistic expectations on me. I am VERY blessed to have had the parents I had (my dad passed away in 2017) because I know other women who did not grow up with that kind of support and encouragement. As my husband and I have raised our daughters, we’ve instilled in them the same thing. They can go and be whoever they want to be. Our oldest is studying to work in Pediatric Occupational Therapy (she’s a senior at the University of Georgia) and our youngest wants to work in the business side of sports (she’s a junior in high school). I would give this advice to anyone – just because someone tells you no doesn’t mean that is the end of the road. You can do whatever you put your mind to!
