Meet Mandy Siess

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mandy Siess. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Mandy, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?

During a personal event that took place with a past church, there were many people who thought negatively about me. With no proven reason, they created this false narrative and spread it throughout the community of my closest friends. After my divorce, I found my safe place in this church so once rumors spread it was time for me to stand on my own two feet again and leave quickly. With a lot of negativity surrounding this experience, plus the people who do not respect female business owners, I had to learn quickly to not let what other people think impact my life. This is something I still continue to work on as it’s very difficult to do. Being a business owner, you have to have a bit of delusion and some big dreams if you want a chance to succeed. With the encouragement from my family and my husband, I began (and continue) to change the narrative I tell myself. When you build confidence in who you are, the negative comments aren’t quite so loud. Another important part, is using that hurt and anger to go out and achieve great things in your life. There’s no better feeling than succeeding when others hate you or doubt you.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I own a coffee shop and gluten free bakery! As a female business owner, I feel this is an outlet for creativity, leadership and delegation. Let’s Go Coffee is all about exploring the world. I love to travel and try new things so we encourage trying coffees from other areas, traveling to new places and meeting new people!

Our business is currently building out a new location in Emmaus, PA. We are excited for this growth and opportunity to have a central location to really root and grow this brand. We have a new merch line dropping in October as well as a bunch of large events where we will be with our mobile coffee trailer.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Business: Working in fields where you learn the ins and outs of a business (ie. how it runs, profits, survives hardships, budgets, etc)
Mental Health: Taking care of yourself, really learning about who you are as a person. Knowing when to stop and when you’re able to work hard.
Confidence: Building traits that make you confident in your abilities. Confidence will take you a long way.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

My parents and husband helped me build out the trailer. My dad actually took the time to invest his talents into electrical, plumbing, welding and basic contracting work to build out my first coffee trailer. Without him, Let’s Go Coffee would not exist.
My mom has always been the helping hand. She helps clean, organize and move anything. She does all my dishes at our location as well as making sure we are all fed on our busy days! My husband is the encourager! He is always the helping hand and will often be found taking the orders in the trailer. We make a great team. Without them all, I would not be where I am today! On my lowest days, they were all there to help me right back up!
