We recently connected with Manny Griggs and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Manny with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic comes from a few different places to include within the inner depths of me as a person and my mom and dad. The military definitely helped me sharpen those skills because being apart of an organization like the Air Force will equip you with a work ethic like no other. In my mind nobody will outwork me because like Kendrick Lamar said at one point it was always me against the world. That point of view or perspective if you may didn’t change until I found out it was me vs. me. Content creating is a passion that runs deep, some people get excitement from the success that comes after the line of work they put in but to me creating the content and the process that goes into that alone is where I receive the most joy. More importantly my environment also provides a motivating force within my life because I can see where I’m headed I know that the work which to my point doesn’t feel like work yields the best work ethic a human being can ever posses. I’ve spent plenty of nights staying up editing videos and continuing growing my social media platforms to include my YouTube and instagram accounts so that my body of work may reflect that of a man who is focused and has vision drive and a desire to be the best version of himself. Honestly my work ethic is like a reward.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Greetings to everyone out there in the world. My name is Manny Griggs I’m a social media influencer and stand up comedian. 4 years ago I had a dream of creating a YouTube channel that would bring joy to the world through laughter. Immediately I started uploading comedy skits to my YouTube. In the beginning i didn’t have any subscribers or any views at the time but that never discouraged me because the vision I had for myself I was determined to bring to life. My perspective on following your dreams is more than just a simple cliche, your dreams can be a reality only if you believe that. Nobody is going to believe in you if you don’t even believe in yourself. You have to take chances and really put yourself out there, yes that includes being vulnerable. Every show I’ve ever done I always close with please whatever it is that you do make sure you follow your dreams. I said it at the Speakeasy comedy lounge during my set and I said it at Houston improv opening up for Amanda Seales during the Seal the deal campaign. My message was always the same and I want people to resonate with the gifts god has given them because we have it for a reason. As I continued to grow as a person opportunities flowed like running water down a beautiful lake. Sometimes this feels like a dream but I ensure that every moment I am present. Meeting Megan Thee Stallion before she blew up is a moment that still sits in my heart rent free. I’ve had the pleasure a doing showcases in my hometown Houston Texas for a non profit organization known as Skeyez N Starz. To grace the stage is something that I plan on doing with some of the greats of today to include Desi Banks And Kevin Hart. If you follow my YouTube & Instagram @mannygriggs then you know special things are in the workings of what I’m on pace to achieve for 2024 and beyond. I believe that my Brand will inspire people to become the best versions of themselves because of my versatility and what I bring to the table everyone can have a seat with me because we have a lot to be thankful for. I encourage people to be innovative and confident in themselves for we are the master of our own abilities.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Since I was a little boy I’ve always been very genuine, kind, and loving. These qualities allow me to be very in-tune with my inner self and my environment around me. When I walk into the room people gravitate to me especially women. I enjoy people because in my mind we are all on a journey to becoming our higher self. Any interaction I’ve ever been in I always approach the situation with love and kindness. My advice to anyone who’s a creative is to be patient with yourself and allow yourself to be loved in all ways shape and form. I love to love but when I was younger I tried to run from who I was, now I walk into my purpose and I encourage you to do the same. We are all deserving of what we deem success to be. You also need to adapt a positive mindset
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I can’t give the credit just to one person that has been helpful in me overcoming adversity and challenges while on my journey, everyone has helped me while on my path. My parents my brothers and my best friend Brooke, she’s amazing. Del Harrison she inspires me as well and always has kind words of insight for me that reignites the flame inside of me to simply keep going. I love everyone on this journey because with everyone I wouldn’t be traveling in the direction I’m headed without them.
