We recently connected with Manx Taiki Magyar and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Manx Taiki with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I grew up IN a small business, art gallery and learned so much about making your own path (in sometimes unconventional ways. My parents owned a glass blowing studio and gallery, which is ALSO where we lived. So I was completely surrounded by “work” and today I run my own small video production with my living partner and mainly work from home. Not sure if I was taught, or just by exposure, I gained a unique work ethic that allowed me to not just work hard but work ‘creatively.’ My parents were able to make a living blowing and selling glass and showed that I have the ability to make a living doing what I love doing (creating video contents) regardless of how realistic or sound that may be.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I run a small video production company, Big Tree (www.bigtreevideo.com) and we create videos for pleasure and business. One of the most exciting parts is capturing so many different people and industries, from food to civic activists; video production has given me the opportunity to explore the world and its many different characters.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Never assume something can’t work. 2. Bizarre mindset
3. Making Friends – the world is much smaller than you think.
I would always say do what feels ‘right’ and what is fun. Don’t try to force a piece of advice onto your own life because the most successful and beautiful things are completely natural.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Life is a collaboration and video production is a reflection of that. Ive only been able to grow by involving other talented, hardworking people who in turn able me to create bigger and better work. I want to collaborate with people who have big ambition but not solely driven economically. Who want to change the world and support their local community.
