Meet Maor Appelbaum

We recently connected with Maor Appelbaum and have shared our conversation below.

Maor, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My father is a holocaust survivor and is very strong mentally. He always has great insights and a wide view on things and situations, Not locked in one perspective. I grew up understanding how important it is to look at reality as it is and how to cope with it, seeing it in different angles, finding solutions, moving forward and progressing with life. Every situation is a challenge you encounter and an opportunity that can bring results and solutions to the problems and circumstances. To me being an optimist does’t mean I can’t look at the negative things. It just means that I take the negative and the reality of the situation in consideration without ignoring the circumstances and figure out what I am about to do. There is no positive without a negative. Yin-Yang type. Its all part of the big picture. Optimism for me is trying to figure it out and working with it in the most productive way

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Going deep in to my profession. ( Gaining lots of experience and knowledge ) knowing the various music styles from all over the world and the sound choices that they inherit. Investing in the profession in terms of the gear needed, the relationships, connections and the business structures Taking lots of projects to gain experience and getting feedback from the clients is one of the ways to get further deep.

2. Working hard on getting the work done on time ( Sticking with deadlines and making sure I am not late )
Building a timeline to expect delay factors in and workarounds to make sure you are not the one slowing it.
having the platforms to work efficiently and effectively without creating a bottle neck. Good planing is always a great way to a better start.

3.Communicating with the client and the people involved in the process ( so nothing is missed or misunderstood )
Not being afraid to hop on a phone call to figure out the details and concerns so you can communicate the challenges and needs faster then in email or text ( which also helps with getting things done on the expected timeline )

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Giving me the best they thought they could. Knowing when to let me fly to my own destiny. It’s not easy for a parent to let their children go to places they are not sure if they will have financial stability or the ability to survive based on their talent and skills. But here I am doing it
I am blessed to have parents that are very supportive of my journey even when it looks crazy, dreamy and unstable.
