Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marc Kerachsky And Leslie Morgan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Marc Kerachsky and Leslie Morgan, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Serendipitously. Separately we both recognized that purpose felt like something directional versus one singular thing. Directionally we both had these very significant interests outside of work that we had been working on for years – writing and humor for Marc and becoming a licensed therapist for Leslie. We knew we wanted to move in the direction of using that in a way that would impact others, which was more direct for Leslie but not as much for Marc. It was living through the trials and tribulations of real-life team and organizational challenges, especially during the pandemic, that these two came together – as we like to say – like a peanut butter cup. We were energized that these coalesced into a compelling value proposition we could take to market.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
We’re really proud of our joint venture, VitalConex! We like to say that we help companies “culture creatively,” since culture development is essential to the success of any company today. And the reason is because culture is a word that often gets defined in a lot of different ways. But at its core, it is absolutely foundational to how we interact, belong, identify, and process information. You can see how this goes well beyond just where you work. Add the psychological component to the fact that we are feeling beings who think and not the other way around, as Jill Bolte Taylor reminds us, we are laser focused on not just what we do, but how we do it. Our combined backgrounds in marketing, finance and operations on the business side coupled with our experience in therapy, humor, and improv on the personal side allow us to see the alchemy of bringing these together in ways that are unique and meaningful.
What is really special about the experiences we have had with clients so far is being able to help build culture and solutions, simultaneously. As co-founders, we have taken what works for us as our business model. Through a foundation of psychological safety, we are able to tap into creativity in new ways that are both fun and outcomes-oriented. They are the perfect combination of two high-value components – the “peanut butter cup” of successful teams!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
– Taking calculated risks – Risk begins to feel clearer in that not doing something has its own risks, too. There is no such thing as “risk-free. A healthy sense of self (psychology and trust) and healthy sense of humor (humility and perspective) not only help with weighing and choosing risk but also mitigation.
– The difference between knowing a thing will work and knowing what it takes to make it work. The years of education to become a therapist (Leslie) and years of working in stand-up, improv, and writing (Marc) provide the skills required to bring these disciplines together in sustainable ways.
– Curiosity – the questions are as important, if not more, than the answers – both in terms of having an appreciation for the fact that your business will continually evolve, as will that of your client.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
We have found our ideal client is the director/C-suite that knows they need to get a result for their team, organization, and even themselves. This pertains to bringing teams together, dealing with organizational changes for various reasons, and even ongoing strategy sessions. The qualities that really work are an open curiosity, an interest in trying something new with a high-touch, and of course, humility and a sense of humor is a bonus. As we like to always say, we take our job and mission seriously, but not ourselves. If that resonates with a client, too, it’s a perfect match.
