We recently connected with Marc Marcel and have shared our conversation below.
Marc, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
About four years ago, I was on a flight to Honolulu for a spoken word performance. Just three minutes after takeoff, the engine exploded and caught fire. In that moment, I made peace with everything. I accepted my fate fully. I thought of my friends, my family, my past lovers, and silently wished them goodbye. I reflected on the places I had been, the experiences I’d lived, and I felt satisfied. I knew I had lived a full life.
Then my thoughts turned to my work: the poems, the animations, the books I had released. I was content. But when I thought of the work still unreleased, sitting on my laptop in the overhead compartment, something shifted. I realized no one else had it. No one would carry it forward if I didn’t survive.
At that moment, twelve minutes into the flight, I began to beg for my life, not for myself, but for the chance to share that work with the world. Nothing else mattered more.
Since then, the second half of my creative life has eclipsed the first. I made a vow to whatever force guided that plane: if I was given more time, I would dedicate myself fully to releasing my work. That promise still drives me.
Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, and I still have so much left to do to honor that deal.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I first made my mark as a spoken word artist, but over time my work has expanded far beyond the stage. Today, I wear many titles, author, animator, podcaster, and creator of Cosmidelic, a multimedia platform that blends consciousness, psychedelics, metaphysics, and cultural commentary. Whether through poetry, my cartoon series Gurus, or The Cosmidelic Download podcast, my mission remains the same: to awaken thought, challenge the norm, and spark healing through creative expression.
My latest spoken word album, Black Shaman, marks my 21st album release and has been submitted for Grammy consideration for the best spoken word poetry album. I also continue to grow the Cosmidelic Download podcast, which has become an unexpected cornerstone of my work, with clips reaching over 10 million views. The show also set the stage for my animated project, Gurus: The Meta Movie, a satirical, metaphysical take on history’s greatest philosophers.
I’ve authored several books, including The Book That Doesn’t Even Matter, which is a philosophy on the meaning of life, and guidebooks like How to Talk to AI and How to Prepare to Meet God. Several other titles on consciousness and psychedelic therapy are forthcoming, as I look forward to working with literary agents to bring them to a wider audience. How Superman Learned to Fly, a memoir about my journey with dyslexia, Bump, a study and memoir on ketamine therapy, and A Moon Near Venus, which focuses on the healing from trauma, are a few to mention.
Though I have my hands in multiple forms of art, it is all woven together. Ultimately, everything I create lives within the larger Cosmidelic universe—a conscious media brand built to entertain, enlighten, and disrupt. For me, it’s not just about making content—it’s about building bridges between spirit, story, and society.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My work ethic is what got me here. For me, art isn’t just an idea, it’s something tangible, something I have to pull out of my head and into the world. Too often, I meet people who talk about their ideas for years but never act on them. I never wanted that. I had to create.
I credit my mother for that drive. She left a teaching job she loved at Morgan State to start a printing and marketing business in our home, which grew into her own company, Specialty Marketing & Printing, in Baltimore. Watching her relentless commitment showed me what real dedication looks like. She probably doesn’t know how deeply I admire her strength, but it shaped me.
Along the way, I’ve carried wisdom from mentors, friends, and my father. One lesson that stuck with me: “No one owes you anything, no matter what you’ve done for them.” It taught me to rely on myself, to trust my vision, and to keep moving forward regardless of others’ actions.
I often encourage people to build their own pyramid, brick by brick. Too many are paralyzed by the size of their vision, waiting for it to appear whole. But nothing is built that way. I never imagined I’d be an animator until I took that first step. That’s the secret: don’t fear the size of the vision. Just place the first brick.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always open to collaboration. The Cosmidelic brand spans multiple verticals, creating opportunities for sponsors, investors, and creative partners. My podcast, The Cosmidelic Download, is rapidly growing with millions of views and actively partnering with aligned brands, while Gurus: The Meta Movie is in talks with investors. At the same time, my team continues to book spoken word performances, lectures, and appearances worldwide.
Cosmidelic functions as a conscious media ecosystem, producing weekly podcast episodes, developing Gurus: The Black Mirror Season and animated shorts, and offering subscription-based media services. At its core, the brand explores medicine work and artificial intelligence, subjects that are both urgent and culturally relevant. AI in particular has opened the door for me to expand the conversations I’ve been having on consciousness and metaphysics for more than 20 years.
Right now, I’m looking to collaborate with investors who see Cosmidelic’s potential as a scalable conscious media brand, sponsors who want to align with a fast-growing platform, event organizers who would like to bring my performances and workshops to their communities, and artists, animators, musicians, and technologists who resonate with conscious storytelling. Anyone interested can connect through www.cosmidelic.com or my socials. The Cosmidelic universe is expanding, and I’m building with those who want to create something that both entertains and awakens.
