Meet Marcelo Pimenta

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marcelo Pimenta. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marcelo below.

Marcelo, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My mom, 100%! She lost her father at a young age and assumed his role being that she was the oldest sibling. She helped my grandmother raise her. younger siblings and has been the rock and foundation of my family. She has experienced tremendous loss in her family early on in life and has continued to never falter in her emotional strength. Today as an adult I don’t think my tough times come even close to hers. But my ability to always see the glass half full, and consistently overcome setbacks and obstacles is one one of my greatest strength.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a fitness and nutrition coach with my own fitness facility. Basically I like to think of myself as a goal achievement coach in the health field. What most excites me as an in person coach is seeing people perform a movement or hit a weight they’ve been chasing for a while. So cool to see the excitement on their faces when they get their first double under, higher back squat, muscle up or any other goal! For my online business, I love hearing from someone when they are looking back on all the progress and admitting that they didn’t think it was possible to lose X amount of pounds in X amount of time!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most important knowledge I gained in my field was definitely getting my degree in Exercise Physiology. The other two skills that I think are most impactful for my career, are passion and consistency. I say passion because clients who really get to know me see how passionate I am about fitness in general and that transfers over to their training and lifestyle. Consistency is important in my journey as well because it has always allowed me to lead by example. Waking up at 4am consistently to coach or train myself takes a level of commitment and discipline that not many people have or even want to have.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
I recently had an accident on my dominant hand that severely injured it, some of the damage is irreversible. So right now I’m doing a lot of therapy work on it, eating as best as I could for the right recovery and taking it one day at a time. I understand it’s an extremely long road back and requires a lot of patience and discipline. I have a wonderful circle of professionals that are guiding me and I’m following their leadership
