We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marcile Powers. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marcile below.
Hi Marcile, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Through gentle self-resonance to my jackal or intellectual parts, I unburdened each inner voice of myself until my self-talk went from a large dialogue to a soft, clear monologue. I released my judges and educators to be free to pursue their passions.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a candidate for Resonant Healing Practitioner with Sarah Peyton: https://sarahpeyton.com/project/resonant-healing-training-certification/
I have experience teaching nonviolent communication in groups, and one-on-one, and helping mediate partnerships. I own Blue Cypress Services, Inc. with my husband which offers business services. I also own Meditation Mandala meditationmandala.com a series of mandalas I’ve created for 14 years. I love combining my art, meditation, and nonviolence into powerful seminars for various audiences. I am also working with Intentional Communities to help with governance and establish a lasting foundation. I am committed to the evolution of human consciousness and emotional catharsis. Spiritual development is a natural cause of both consciousness and healing.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The most powerful thing you can do in your journey into NVC consciousness is join a community committed to a year-long journey together. I also owned Kenwood Organic Produce an organic produce business. During the pandemic, we were delivering to 30 families a day helping with social distancing. The knowledge I learned from a range of organic farmers and permaculturist were far more valuable than taking a permaculture 101 week-long workshop. Learn from many people in the field you care about. I studied in college at the Institute for Simulating Technologies in Orlando under Christopher Stapleton. I learned to expand my knowledge of film into immersive environments like we see at Meow Wolf and FloridaRAMA. I value that knowledge of emotional healing through art every day.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents’ most impactful thing for me was buying motivational speaking audio cassettes as a kid. They got me The Magic of Thinking Big. It started my love for everything self-help. It taught me confidence and to be unshaken in the face of contempt from others. As a neurodivergent adult, I have had contempt directed at me my whole life and always registered it as self-hate. Recently in relational neuroscience, I learned it was contempt and how we learned to process it was to understand the person was having a problem with themselves. It seemed like a bunch of extra steps for what my parents taught my brain to do naturally.
