Meet Marcilli

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marcilli. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Marcilli, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I’m still overcoming imposter syndrome, to be honest. But what helps me is looking at how far I’ve come and giving myself credit for everything I’ve accomplished. I remind myself that I’m good enough, I’m deserving of my dreams, and so is anyone else with a dream. No dream is ever too grand—you should even go bigger than you imagined.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a singer, songwriter, and concept creator, and my artistry blends Tropical Pop, and Rap in a way that’s unique. What’s most exciting about what I do is how I can use my voice and creativity to tell stories, represent my culture, and connect with people on a deep level. It’s special because it allows me to be unapologetically myself while inspiring others to do the same.

I’m also building my brand, which uplifts queer voices and creates safe for the LGBTQ+ community in Jamaica and beyond.

For me, it’s not just about the art, it’s about creating spaces and experiences that inspire people to dream bigger, be bold, and embrace who they are.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities that have had the most impact on my journey are determination, staying headstrong in my beliefs, and confidence.

Determination has been crucial because this industry is tough, especially as someone who is openly queer. You need guts to keep going, even when it feels like the odds are stacked against you.

Being headstrong in my beliefs has also been key. People will project their own fears onto your dreams, but you have to hold onto your vision and remember why you’re doing what you’re doing.

Lastly, confidence has made a huge difference. Sometimes, you have to fake it until you make it—make people believe you’re already a star until you actually become one. Confidence has a way of drawing the right attention and opening doors you didn’t even know existed.

For anyone just starting out, my advice is to develop these qualities step by step. Stay determined by setting small, achievable goals that keep you moving forward. Build belief in yourself by surrounding yourself with people who support your vision, and practice confidence daily—even if it feels unnatural at first. Speak like you’re already where you want to be, and soon enough, you’ll grow into that version of yourself.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I would absolutely love to collaborate with other queer artists. There’s something so powerful about creating with people who share similar experiences and bring their perspectives to the table. My dream collaborations would be with artists like Kehlani, Towa Bird, Billie Eilish, and Nxdia—just to name a few.

But I’m definitely open to more! If you’re a creative who’s passionate, I’d love to connect. You can reach out to me on Instagram @marcilliofficial or through my team for collaborations—I’m always excited to explore new ideas and make magic happen.
