Meet Marco Harrington

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marco Harrington a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Marco, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

I focus on what and not who. I aim to achieve my goals regardless of who is watching me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

What we do is simple. WE SCOOP DOG POOP! I own and operate a pet waste removal business in Central MS. I employ 5 people that love their stress free jobs and we we definitely love seeing the doggos. Many ask why don’t people pick up behind their own pets? Some are disabled, elderly, parenting, or just don’t want to. Regardless we are here for them.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Adaptability. Perseverance, Conflict resolution. Always think of and work towards a brighter future when you are faced with adversity. Today’s problem can be tomorrow’s payday.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

Awareness. Many think this is a scam or joke but are shocked to find it is a legit business. I continue to post, and attend events to raise awareness.
