Meet Marcus Martin

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marcus Martin . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marcus below.

Marcus , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I got my worth ethic from my mom. Watching my mom thrive despite our circumstances. My mom always provided. She was a single parent, and never complained. I seen her work day & nights shifts to provide for me and my sibling, and it showed me what it takes and what the drive you need to have to attain the things you want. It taught me to be hardworking and to just always try to put your best foot forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a professional standup comedian and mc , and one of the most exciting things about being a comedian is being able to travel the world and putting smiles on peoples places , to know you can change somebodies life with laughter. My real job is to bring joy to world. I love being able to touch peoples lives even if just for a moment .

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three area skills that were impactful on my journey is being able to develop a stage presence, to be confident in what you do on that stage no matter what . Being a comedian you must also have to develop a sense of time management. You have to be able to know how much time you have and be able to time and deliver those jokes in your set time. Lastly I would say, to be able to have story telling skills and authenticity.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Robert Greene “Law of Attraction ” and Jonah Bergers, “Contagious, Why Things Catch On” have played a important role in my life as a comedian. The law of attraction taught me how to think and remain positive no matter what situation I’m in . Contagious teaches you how things Go viral and how to stay relevant and how to compete in marketing as far as sales .
