Meet Marcy Chicas

We were lucky to catch up with Marcy Chicas recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcy, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

I spent years wrestling with imposter syndrome—and honestly, it still pops up now and then. The funny part? My breakthrough started with a Nickelodeon show. It reminded me that as an artist, the most important thing I can do is create with confidence. My choices, my voice, my vision are valid simply because they’re mine.

When I create from what feels right to me, that is the right choice—no matter what anyone else might think. It took years of practice to really trust that, to stand by my work, and to stand by myself. But eventually I realized:
I can’t be an imposter when I’m showing up as my true self.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Welcome, weary wanderer, to the edge of reality.
I am the Sage of Chaos, keeper of an online, ever-traveling tavern known as The Serentipsy Tavern—a place that drifts between timelines, algorithms, and whatever corner of the internet needs a little mischief and magic.

Inside our tavern walls (which, yes, absolutely move on their own), we host karaoke nights, tarot evenings, video-game quests, music sessions, movie nights, and the occasional “what-dimension-did-we-just-walk-into?” event.

Think of me as the Ms. Frizzle of the spiritual world, but instead of a magic school bus, I drive a tavern powered by curiosity, intuition, and whatever chaotic energy the cosmos hands me that day. My mission? To help wanderers ask the big questions, explore meditation without the pressure of being a “perfect meditator,” and claim a space where they can simply be—weird, mystical, creative, or uncertain. All versions of you are welcome.

The only entrance fee at the Serentipsy is authenticity and honesty. If you’re craving a break from the heaviness of reality or simply want a cozy corner to play with a different kind of chaos, our doors are always open.

We share monthly newsletters featuring the incredible artists who pass through our doors, release music across all major streaming platforms, and—because every tavern adventurer needs armor—we even sell “human clothes” on Poshmark at discounted prices for your Earthly daily needs ♥

Our long-term quest?
To take the tavern on the road—popping up at raves, music festivals, art fairs, and chaotic local events where we can bring entertainment, magic, and a touch of tavern lore to the physical world.

If you’d like to support our journey (or simply peek into the madness), you can:
✨ Listen to our songs
✨ Join our livestreams on TikTok & YouTube (and soon Twitch)
✨ Adopt some wares from our Poshmark or Ko-Fi
✨ Or toss a coin to your tavern keepers via our donation portal

All paths lead to the same doorway:

Welcome to The Serentipsy Tavern.
Stay as long as you need.
Reality will be there when you return—promise.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1. Stay open to growth & stay curious
No matter how many years you study or how deeply you explore your craft, there will always be more to learn. Staying curious keeps your mind fresh and your perspective flexible. The world looks different—and more magical—when you’re willing to see it through new eyes.

2. Keep trying, even when it’s messy.
Giving up guarantees nothing changes. Trying, even with fear in your throat and shaky hands, moves you closer to your vision. Failure isn’t a dead end—it’s a teacher. Try, try again, and allow yourself to learn through the missteps. Effort compounds in ways you won’t see until later.

3. Do your best… and remember that “your best” shifts every day.
Some days your best might be creating three full art pieces. Other days it might be writing a single lyric or cooking up a rough idea. What matters is checking in with yourself and honoring the energy you do have. Your best is always enough when it’s honest.

For anyone at the beginning of their journey:
The start is supposed to be messy. Chaotic, even. We just don’t talk about that part enough. Whether you’re trying meditation, yoga, art, music, dancing, singing or your first baby steps into spirituality—showing up is uncomfortable. Being present is uncomfortable. We all want the results instantly, but the struggle is what teaches us to value the path.

Eventually, you find your flow. And one day you’ll look back at where you started and think,
“Wow… that was me?! Look how far I’ve come.”

And that moment makes every wobble, every tear, every failure worth it.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely! We’re always open to collaborating with fellow creatives, dreamers, and chaos-embracers. The Serentipsy Tavern thrives on community! we’re especially excited to partner with:

✨ Artists & illustrators who want their work featured in our monthly newsletters or tavern lore
✨ Musicians, producers, and sound wizards interested in co-creating tracks, ambiance, or tavern-themed music
✨ Content creators, streamers, and storytellers who love worldbuilding, spirituality, gaming, or whimsical chaos
✨ Local vendors & festival organizers looking for unique pop-up energy, magical booths, or interactive experiences [we are still building this up but is in our future goals!]
✨ Spiritual practitioners who want to share tools, rituals, workshops, or guidance in a safe, playful space

If your creativity leans mystical, chaotic, cozy, humorous, or heart-centered—you’re exactly the kind of person we want to build with.

Folks interested in collaborating can find all our links in one place at linktr.ee/serentipsy, or reach out directly through Instagram or Ko-Fi.
The tavern door is always open for genuine souls ready to co-create something magical.
