We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Margarita Lopez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Margarita below.
Hi Margarita, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
Thank you for this question because self-care as a mom, as a person, and as an entrepreneur is so incredibly important; to keep our mind healthy and sane from the demands of everyday life. I realized that if I don’t set time aside for myself, it won’t just magically appear, therefore, I treat these moments like an appointment and schedule them into my day. It took me a long time to figure out what worked best for me and after Covid, I realized that time in the early morning was what ultimately feeds my soul. So I make the sacrifice of waking up very early to give myself time to enjoy the peace and silence that comes with the sun rising. I start my morning with tea or coffee and then I sit quietly to reflect. I give myself time to read, journal and express gratitude. In doing these things, not only does it help me create a positive mindset, but a clearer picture of how I want to start my day and the expectations of what I want the rest of my day to look like.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself?
My name is Margarita Lopez and I am a Latina Realtor in the Chicagoland area with a primary focus in residential real estate. I assist buyers and sellers with their homeownership and investment possibilities while educating them on the importance of building wealth through real estate. I pride myself on building relationships with my clients to help them achieve their goals well past the closing table. I have to say the most exciting part about my profession is that I get to see people’s hard work pay off. The dream of owning a home has been ingrained in all of us and helping turn that dream into a reality is so rewarding and inspiring.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being genuine, trustworthy and authentic. People can see through you and when someone is not genuine or truthful, you create a barrier that doesn’t allow for a relationship to form. Being myself and staying true to my personality has allowed me to build strong relationships that have not only helped me in my real estate business but as an individual as well. My advice to any, is to find your strengths and remain true to the type of person that you are and the right individuals will gravitate towards you.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My support system has definitely been the most impactful in my real estate journey. That circle includes family members, friends, my kids and most importantly, my husband. Each has helped me overcome challenges, fears and develop skills; but having my husband encourage me, believe in me and support me has helped me reach milestones I never thought possible. His ideas, encouragement and peaceful demeanor have helped me believe in myself and build the business that I have today.
