We recently connected with Maria Bush and have shared our conversation below.
Maria, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
As a teenager I was extremely shy and insecure, but I always loved to dress up and look at myself in the mirror. Growing up in a small place in Russia in 90s was tough and no a lot of options what to wear (we all girls at school had pretty much same clothes). At the age of 12 I started to learn how to sew my own clothes and here my journey began. So wearing my clothes I knew I look different, I stand out and people look at me and of course it made me work on how I carry myself. I started to feel myself confident and secure, because if you know You look great and your movements, your eyes, your body screaming about it and people feel it! You do not want to hide – you want to be seen, you want to own the room because why not, right?! So for me it worked from outside inside – the way I looked on the outside gave me high self-esteem and that’s the key, especially for us, for Women!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
First of all I want to say that I love being a woman! And I really admire every woman! I see my mission as celebrating each of us, because we all are beautiful. When I put on some of my designs, everything changes in second – mood, eyes, smile, body moves, voice, I just know who I am and I am ready to go and make love with this World! To open up our feminine energy, today’s world has changer, women got more power and we are ready to stand out! The magic moment for me – you put on a new dress, look at yourself and it takes your breath away – this is what I want to bring to this World!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I am stubborn, I think this is what brought me where I am now. Being from a place in the middle of nowhere I now live in California and even after 6 years here sometimes I am almost crying because of how much I love this place. At 22 I moved to Europe and lived there 5 years but when I realized I don’t see myself here – I moved to the US on my own again and I knew absolutely nobody here but I made it! Another quality which helps me to move forward – I dream big and I have my vision as my lighthouse which keeps my on my road. And I love beauty, I see beauty and I create it.
I can give only one advice – take ACTION. I know we all want one magic pill but it does not exist, you can meditate all day long, but what what you need is DO actions toward your dream. Never stop to believe in yourself, if you have it in your mind – you can do it, do not listen to anybody, BE YOURSELF and let others be them.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My greatest wealth is my family. The most impactful thing they gave me is LOVE. They show me what love is, they teach me how to love because at the end we all need love. My parents – my example of everything, I am proud of then and proud to be their daughter. I haven’t seen them over 6 years and it is hard, but I always know my family is what I am the most grateful for in life. No matter what crazy things I do – they are with me and support me.
