Meet Maria Deibert

We were lucky to catch up with Maria Deibert recently and have shared our conversation below.

Maria, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic began in my home growing up. My Mom and Dad worked hard to put food on the table and keep a home in what my Mom considered a safe environment for her four children. I am a retired U.S. Navy veteran who served for 30 years. I am also a retired DOD (Department of Defense) retired employee. During my career, I was inculcated with leadership training, honor, courage, and commitment to the service of our country and its citizens. The fruits of my labor (work and work ethic) is part of my legacy and service to others. It is my desire to leave a positive legacy.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I focus on financial education for veterans and their families. I help them transfer their money from risk to safety. Being a veteran and retired DOD employee, I understand the benefits and insurances a military person may have. I can help them navigate what is available in the civilian sector for life insurance and annuities.

I am excited to teach about Living Benefits. It is life insurance that one does not have to die to use. I am excited to teach about Million Dollar Baby policies and other financial products we were never taught about in school, college, the military, and at our jobs.

I am excited to have Wine, Women & Wealth® and Money 101 workshops to help people with the knowledge of financial products that can positively change their financial futures. Wine, Women & Wealth® workshops will begin in May 2025 in Chesapeake, Virginia. Many workshops are held around the U.S both in person and online.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, my thirst for knowledge always drove me forward to seek out courses of instruction or experts in their fields of expertise. Second, do not quit. There are many distractions that can take away your focus off of your goals but never quit. Fail forward. Try and try again. … No one fails unless they quit. Third, my skills in math help especially in the field of personal and small business financial needs.

I would advise folks who are early in their journey to begin saving now for their retirement. They have time plus the compound effect of interest on their side. Most Americans do not seriously begin to save for retirement until they reach the average age of 53!

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

My number one challenge is being visible on social media. After 38 plus years as a military person and DOD employee, I was not permitted to tell people what I did in my job or discuss my location. 2025 is my year to become more visible and let people know what I am doing in Act III of my life. I am proud to know and teach about financial products that will help people sleep better at night.

I wished my parents knew about Living Benefits because it would have taken away the financial burden of medical bills when my Father had two open heart surgeries and a stroke. Since I have the knowledge about life insurance with Living Benefits and Annuities, I can pass the knowledge to my clients, future clients, and their families.

Together we can help many veterans and their families learn more about financial products available to them that they did not know existed. Thanks to BoldJourney for being part of my visibility challenge.
