Meet MARIA & EDUARDO JARAMILLO

We were lucky to catch up with MARIA & EDUARDO JARAMILLO recently and have shared our conversation below.

MARIA & EDUARDO, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Blessed to say I get my work ethic from my father!!! I am blessed to still have him alive till this day. Since little I remember always being with him working with his friends from mechanic , roofing , concrete , sheet-rocking , landscape , window installing and much more!
He always worked till this day , at times I would be so upset because he would be missing out on FAMILY events NOT understanding why he worked so much in life. NOW that I am older I see and understand. He is now retired and is owner of 5 houses here in DFW. My kids tell me the same thing why I am always working , I do this for them to leave something so they can have when we are NO longer here!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
It all started with my coordinating business MJ EVENTS & DECOR back in 2019.

Myself & my husband Eduardo attended several events where we were asked if we owned a catering business. After turning down so many “We dont cater”, one day while grilling we decided to start a catering business PINCHE SMOKERZ TEX-MEX BBQ LLC.

With GODS blessing we made it official Sept 2019 , 4 YEARS LATER HERE WE ARE BUSINESS OWNERS!!!
We started off with a $200 small smoker from Wal-Mart. While business started to ger busy with major caterings & events we then had to shop for a larger smoker. It came to the day that my husband had to put in his 2 week notice at his job.
As i would see him through facetime at work him being ALONE a line was already waiting for him as soon as he arrived.
My anxiety hit the roof knowing he was alone with NO HELP and the line he had was JUST CRAZY ,i couldnt help but to put in my 2 weeks as well. My boss was out on vacation when i made the decision , they offered me more $$$ so that i can stay , however i tried to stay as long as i could our catering business was taking over my corporate job i had to leave for the best of myself & my family.

Couple years later after we both left our corporate jobs we were blessed to own a BBQ Trailer!! A dream came true too soon!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Being a business owner takes alot. Best advice I can give is to ALWAYS KEEP GOD first trust and believe in him! NEVER GIVE UP no matter how hard the situation gets wake up make sure to keep pushing in life.
It might not make sense on why you go through certain things at that time , however in the long run it will pay off!

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
We are currently in the process with City of Dallas to receive a yearly permit.

Dallas is challenging Not going to lie. ALOT of things are required to have and need. However I understand certain things are required for the best of everyones health especially when it comes to BBQ!

We are working on this step by step one day at a time.

It is a Rollacoaster ride i wanted to giveup plenty of times but I have a hand full of friends who have pushed me to complete this challenge. My GOAL is to officially have this yearly permit and be able to sale our delicious BBQ in public with NO PROBLEMS when code compliance pass right by us.
