Meet María Emilia Hendreich

We were lucky to catch up with María Emilia Hendreich recently and have shared our conversation below.

María Emilia, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

Watching movies, listening to music, going for a 1.5-hour walk every day while listening to bands I like is what keeps my creativity alive. Also, checking out art exhibitions and studying different artists whose style I love.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a visual artist, graduated as a professor and Bachelor of Arts with a focus on painting from the Faculty of Arts at the National University of La Plata. I also work in the education department of the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts Emilio Pettoruti. I’m a painter and currently working on a series of paintings where artworks and image-bearing objects are the protagonists.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Seeing other artists grow and share their work encouraged me to dedicate myself more professionally to my artistic practice.
I recommend to never create art to fin it, be sincere.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

I go for a walk for an hour or two outdoors. That helps me clear my mind.
In my case, it also helps a lot to watch movies, series or read books that i like.
