Meet Maria Ferrer

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Maria Ferrer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Maria, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
Like everyone else, I have had much adversity in my life. I see what my mother endured in coming from the Philippines to America and how she struggled taking care of my brother and I but worked so hard to make a life for us. She was always a fighter and never gave up and we grew up having everything we needed. I have been rejected several times in my career but always found something better and I know when something doesn’t work out, it is simply not for me. Whenever I am faced with challenges, I always look for the brighter side of things and trust that all will flow the way it needs too. That everything works out as they should.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I started becoming successful in content creation about 2 years ago when I started my Instagram and TikTok channels. Prior to that, I tried for many many years to find what my calling was or my “niche” and nothing ever seemed to feel right. I started creating content on 90s nostalgia and life as a millennial mom. I have so much fun creating my comedy skits and bringing joy to others! I get so many messages daily and approached everywhere I go now by people saying they love my videos and that they bring them so much happiness. We need that more than ever now! I found that being my authentic self was what I needed to be this whole time. It took. me many years to understand that but better not than never!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I always knew I had something in me. I would try to dim my light for many years. I would create things such as writing songs, music production, and video concepts and ideas and I would never take the credit for it. I would stay in the shadows of those that I worked with. I worked on my self love journey and realized that it is okay for me to take up space. It is safe for me to make my presence known. So I say to anyone just getting started in creating to keep working on your craft. Research, study and outwork yourself! Observe and be a sponge! Learn as much as you can! Be persistent and don’t take things personal when they dont work out for you. Keep striving and moving towards your goals and dreams!

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
I love the book “You can heal your life” by Louise Hay. I have read that book so many times since I was 18 years old and every time I reread it, I take away something new from it. Understanding how powerful our minds are and that our energy creates our environment and our experience has been such a powerful tool!
