Meet Maria Medina

We recently connected with Maria Medina and have shared our conversation below.

Maria, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I developed my resilience by surrounding myself with inspirational figures who overcame adversity and persevered. It all begins with my grandfather. He left Cuba without his family on a raft, uncertain if he would ever see them again or even make it to the United States, yet he took the risk, willing to sacrifice everything for his freedom and the freedom of his children. Remarkably, he went on to build a successful business without speaking any English or working towards a higher education —a truly admirable feat.

My parents have also been my greatest inspiration. They started a new life in the U.S. at a young age, working tirelessly to achieve their goals and refusing to quit, no matter the challenges. Growing up around such high achievers and risk-takers who never gave up was instilled in me from an early age. In our family, we don’t let anything hold us back from achieving our dreams.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

At She’s All Interiors, we specialize in creating bespoke high-end residential and commercial spaces that reflect our clients’ unique personalities and style. My passion for design and architecture at a young age drove me to where I am today, crafting environments that inspire and enhance each persons everyday life.

What sets us apart is our commitment to our clients and those that we work with. We believe that beautiful design should also be mindful of its environment and those that occupy it. We focus on luxury with high-end service.

Currently, we’re working on some fun projects on the residential space and plan to continue hosting design workshops and events to empower individuals in their own creative journeys as designers, architects. or just a curious individual that wants to advance in their home value. My focus remains on pushing the boundaries of design while staying true to our values of elegance, individuality, and efficiency. I’m excited to continue evolving She’s All Interiors and seeing where the company goes from here.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey in the interior design industry, three qualities stand out as particularly impactful: comfort in the uncomfortable, the importance of finding community, and a commitment to constant learning and relearning. Embracing discomfort has been essential; stepping outside my comfort zone to tackle challenging projects and navigate difficult client relationships has pushed me to grow. I encourage newcomers to view challenges as opportunities for development, as resilience often comes from facing uncomfortable situations. Building connections within and outside the industry has also been invaluable; surrounding myself with other designers and creative professionals has provided support, inspiration, and collaboration opportunities. I recommend actively seeking out industry events and networking groups to create a solid support system. Finally, the design industry is ever-evolving, so a mindset of lifelong learning is crucial. Staying curious and open to new ideas—whether through online courses, mentorships, or industry publications—can spark creativity and innovation in your work. By embracing discomfort, cultivating community, and committing to ongoing learning, you’ll find your path in this dynamic industry to be enriching and fulfilling.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to model the true meaning of entrepreneurship and instill the values of hard work and perseverance. Growing up, I watched them navigate challenges with unwavering determination, always prioritizing our family’s well-being. They taught me that no matter the obstacles, it’s essential to get the job done and never give up. Their commitment to providing the best life for us inspired me to pursue my dreams fearlessly. They invested in my aspirations, encouraging me to explore my passions and believe in myself. In return, I aim to do the same for my own family, fostering a supportive environment where hard work and resilience are celebrated. Their example has shaped my journey and motivates me to create a legacy of determination and opportunity for myself and others.
