We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mariah Thomas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariah, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Every day, I’m on a journey to discover and fulfill my purpose. I firmly believe that God grants everyone unique gifts that open doors for us to serve others, honor Him, and find joy in the process. For me, those gifts have always been singing and writing. From a young age, I was passionate about travel and fashion, devouring magazines like “Teen Vogue” and “Seventeen.” I dreamed of sharing my own writing with the world.
As I pursued internships and sought mentors, I discovered that I was also a great communicator who loved connecting with people. This realization led me to expand my horizons—not just writing, but also hosting events, traveling the world and sharing my fashion experiences and closet with others. By tapping into my gifts and creativity, I’ve found that these passions guide me towards my purpose every day.
For anyone seeking to find their purpose, start by identifying what you’re naturally good at and what comes easily to you. Along the way, pay attention to what truly brings you joy. Remember, your purpose can evolve as you grow and change, but if you take the time to focus on these elements, you’ll discover what you’re meant to do now and in the future.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a content creator who has partnered with brands like Steve Madden, Hallmark, Neutrogena, and Aussie Hair Care. I’m also a journalist, author and the founder of Internationista—a brand dedicated to sharing travel tips and inspiration with both seasoned travelers and newcomers. Through Internationista, I curate a collection of vintage (sometimes designer) items from my closet and around the world, all while hosting events in NYC focused on lifestyle, wellness and fashion. My goal is to inspire my followers to explore the beauty of God’s creations and tap into their creativity.
My passion for travel ignited during my first internship abroad in London in 2018. I realized how much I love immersing myself in new cultures and exploring different parts of the world. I also noticed that as people get older, it becomes harder to find time for travel. With Internationista, I aim to showcase the beauty of travel and inspire others to make time for it, even with a full-time job.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, I’ve identified three key skills and qualities that have helped me build my brand and achieve success:
Effective Communication: Being able to communicate well with people in all walks of life is crucial. It’s not just about building a business but also about forming lifelong, supportive connections. While people may be drawn to your brand, it’s your personality and ability to connect with them that captures their attention and keeps them engaged.
Understanding My Why: Knowing why you’re doing what you’re doing is essential. Once you’ve figured out what you want to pursue, delve deeply into the reasons behind it. People love a compelling story. Whether you started your brand to gain financial freedom or simply because you love to travel and explore, your story is what resonates with others. It’s what draws them to you and your brand.
Self-Promotion: As an entrepreneur, you can’t afford to be shy. You must be willing to step out of your comfort zone and enter spaces that might intimidate you. Remember, no one should intimidate you regardless of their success or wealth. You are worthy, and your dreams are valid. Have faith in yourself and the plan that God has for you. If you fail once, twice, or even five times, each failure is a lesson that helps you grow and become the best version of yourself.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m eager to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for travel and fashion. I’m currently seeking panelists for future events, as well as instructors from all walks of life in the wellness and creative arts spaces. My goal is to inspire my followers to pursue their dreams and learn from others about how to achieve success, no matter where they are in life.
