Meet Mariana Macias Executive Performance Coach

We recently connected with Mariana Macias Executive Performance Coach and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Mariana Macias, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
To be really honest with all of you, I think this is something that you don’t overcome entirely, but that you learn how to use in your favor, and that for me, is always such a powerful reminder of how much love and significance I need to give to myself.

-One of the main things you always need to identify when feeling Impostor Syndrome is whether this is coming from fear or from a belief that says “I am not worthy of this”. Because both can be triggered by the syndrome. Then you need to remember that if it is fear that you feel, it is a normal emotion, and in fact, it is a powerful reminder that you really care about that, otherwise, you wouldn’t be feeling it. And that is also reminding you to stay alert and present in the process. We also tend to think that feeling fear is something negative when actually it is not. So, one thing that helps me a lot is thinking about other times that I was able to do something hard, the fact of being able to remember moments, and situations in which you were able to do something similar or beyond, helps; as well as taking a moment to RECOGNIZE and remember all of your major accomplishments through your life. It doesn’t matter in which area. This is so powerful because as humans, we tend to forget, and we need to remind and repeat to ourselves that we can do hard things in life!!! We all have big battles, that we have conquered, and processes that we have healed. Step through fear and not with it. Claiming back your strength and power from those past battles will give you the fuel to put down this impostor!!!

-Now, when we identify that maybe this impostor syndrome is not coming from fear, but from feeling unworthy of receiving or having that situation, opportunity, relationship, etc. Then this is a powerful reminder that we need to work diligently in our self-love. In the way we see ourselves. And again, I really want to emphasize that Impostor Syndrome is not something that you overcome one time, or several… is something that maybe we might struggle with our whole life, at specific moments. And that’s OK. But we need to be able to see this syndrome as a powerful reminder of how important is to keep remembering and honoring our past battles and hard processes. And certainly to have more compassion for ourselves, and to keep nurturing our self-relationships. One thing that helps me a lot to remember for putting down this syndrome is thinking that: “I wouldn’t be able to attract this opportunity, situation, relationship, etc. if it wasn’t aligned with my true potential and loved by God, and because it was, and I am, this owns me, I am ready for it, and I will do it”

BE BOLD! Impostor Syndrome is not YOUR voice, it is the enemy’s, and the sound of your past. And when you choose to follow YOUR true voice, you will see that YOUR voice will always carry more power and authority in your life than others, and that is the sound of a promising and beautiful future.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
So, my journey actually initiated around 5-6 years ago when I decided to follow my dream and listen to my call. “Being a safe space for people to grow and enhance their minds, souls, to create impact within their relationships and a fulfilled life”. I actually came from a Marketing and PR career, with also some experience with HR, & headhunting. I am originally from Mexico, and it was when I went to study abroad that I started learning from coaching and that completely blew my mind!!!

I decided to go all in with the executive coaching career, so I invested years in education and certifications. I started creating and proving success through my own methodologies and techniques. Until I opened my own coaching services company called “MACOACHING SERVICES”. We are not only the best at pure coaching, but we are all about performance!!! We offered a variety of training, sessions, programs, facilitations, off-sites, conferences, team buildings, retreats, and even cultural transformations!! All are based on tangible and emotional KPIs.

I always knew I wanted to impact and contribute to living in a better and kinder world. So, also that’s when I knew. I need to coach the leaders of today!!! So, if I could describe ideally what I do in my day-to-day it would be:

I am the coach of top-performing leaders & C-suite executives, and I also help organizations thrive through a healthy and psychologically safe transformational culture by leading safe spaces for people to communicate in agile ways!

-One of my main differentiators is the proven and impactful methodology that I use in my coaching processes. This methodology is based on pure coaching that involves transformative questions + tools and theory that covers what the real performance is. Hence, everything can be measured and certainly transformed in a sustainable way, always impacting the culture in organizations and the purpose of the person.

Today, Macoaching Services is considered as an international company, delivering coaching and equipping leaders from Mexico, to USA!!!! And we are expanding to Europe as well.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say that DISCIPLINE, PATIENCE, and COURAGE are my top three for achieving, growing, but mostly generating impact through this precious journey.

My best advice for developing these skills would be, that you gotta be able to know and have real clarity on your WHY. Motivation is something that you won’t have every single day. There will be tough seasons or moments that you’ll want to stop, or you will get tired. And knowing your purpose, the real WHY you are doing what you’re doing, and why it is RELEVANT for you, and in your life, will always give you enough reasons for doing it, and taking action, even when you don’t feel like it. And that follows with being disciplined, and knowing that discipline is choosing between what you want now, and what you want MOST.
-In terms of developing and cultivating your patience, I will say TRUST!!!! Trusting the process is such a challenge, but it is essential that you learn to have patience. Rome wasn’t built in one day huh!? Working on your spirituality, and believing in something bigger that is stable and permanent will always give you trust and confidence with time. You gotta invest time in building a true relationship with your spirituality.
-Lastly, you need to keep working on stepping out from fear. I will always say and now more than ever I truly believe that in order to fulfill your dreams, you gotta be BOLD!!! Courage is not the absence of fear, but having the will to do hard stuff even with fear…

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I think the best strategy when I am feeling overwhelmed is just PAUSING what I am doing and start dividing all of the things that worry me, or concern me and putting them in different boxes. This process also comes in handy with asking the correct questions. Some of them will be: What is exactly what worries me the most? What is stressing me out? What are the things I need to deliver in a short period of time? What can I do TODAY that can add value in progressing with my pending tasks? Can I do something ASAP, that totally depends on me for worrying less/reducing my stress? What are the immediate actions that I could take to worry less/reduce my stress? What do I need to let go in order to feel at peace?

-Focusing on my 1% daily actions, these are simple and easy things that can help me move my pressure, and advance on the things I say I want to do or accomplish. My personal mantra for this one is: “If it’s out of your hands, it deserves freedom from your mind too.”
