Meet Marianela Silva

We recently connected with Marianela Silva and have shared our conversation below.

Marianela , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Initially I did not have plans of becoming a financial advisor. I was working as a teacher, because I’ve always had a passion for teaching and helping others. Life took me in a different direction, and I realized that I could make an impact in people’s lives through financial empowerment. Working in the financial industry has shown me so many educational disparities with regards to people’s personal finances and that is what cemented my purpose in helping others achieve their financial goals.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

For over 16 years I’ve worked at large companies, and starting my own business was the most rewarding/scary experience. Making the transition from a large company was not easy, but nothing worthwhile rarely is in my opinion. Since opening my business I’ve been able to service my clients the way I feel they deserve. My business model is centered around client service and providing everyone access to financial planning. It is a special feeling to see how my work gives my clients peace of mind. I am very grateful for the trust my clients place in me to manage their life’s savings, that is beyond measure. My dream is to grow my company where we make a significant impact to close financial education gaps between generations and create generational wealth.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Authenticity
Don’t be afraid to be yourself and don’t be worried about what others think of you. If I worried about those things I wouldn’t be where I am.

Perseverance
Dream big and be prepared to build your plan. I was turned down 4 times for the financial advisor role when I first started. I was a minority and a female in a male dominated industry.

Fearless
Don’t be afraid of putting in the work and taking leaps of faith. Don’t be afraid to fail, they’re not failures, they’re learning opportunities.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

I’ve been a single mom for 11 years, and I had the most supportive parents in the world. I wouldn’t be where I am today without all the love and support they have given me. I didn’t feel like a single mom because they were by my side helping me raise my 2 boys. My family has been my foundation and the glue that has kept me going.
