Meet Maricarmen Castillon

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Maricarmen Castillon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Maricarmen, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

Going back to look within, listening to my intuition, meditation, journaling, prayer and surrendering. It brings me back to clarity, to alignment, to make assertive desicions. To shift and act from coherence.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Maricarmen Castillón is an internationally acclaimed interior designer and founder of Maricarmen Castillón Design (MCD), a global design firm recognized for creating timeless, sophisticated, and wellness-integrated spaces. With projects spanning Miami, Madrid, Mexico and more, she blends architectural precision with emotional intelligence, designing environments that elevate both aesthetics and well-being.

As a visionary entrepreneur, she pioneers a new frontier in luxury real estate where design, science, and longevity converge. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is a devoted mother of five, known for her depth, intuition, and ability to weave purpose and beauty into every aspect of life

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been vision, resilience, and emotional intelligence.

Vision has guided every decision I’ve made. In design, and in business, seeing beyond what exists today and having the courage to create what doesn’t yet exist is essential. For those starting out, nurture your ability to imagine without limits — clarity of vision is what turns creativity into impact.

Resilience has allowed me to move forward through uncertainty, loss, and reinvention. The path of entrepreneurship and creativity is rarely linear; developing the emotional strength to rise after setbacks is what builds true success.

Finally, emotional intelligence has been the cornerstone of my relationships — with clients, partners, and my own team. The ability to listen deeply, understand human emotion, and create spaces or experiences that reflect people’s essence is what transforms good work into extraordinary work.

My advice for those early in their journey: stay curious, stay kind, and never lose faith in your unique perspective. The combination of vision, strength, and empathy will take you further than any technical skill ever could.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

In the past year, my greatest growth has been in integrating creativity with business structure and precision. As my firm has expanded internationally, I’ve focused on developing stronger business protocols, operational systems, and client management processes that support both excellence and efficiency.

At the same time, I’ve learned to lead with balance — combining intuition, strategic thinking, and emotional intelligence. This has allowed me to align creativity, wellness, and business in a way that elevates every project, relationship, and result.

This evolution has redefined my approach to leadership — from simply executing beautiful work to building a brand rooted in clarity, accountability, and lasting impact.
