We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mario Sanchez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mario, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by experiencing art in other forms other than DJing. I like to watch movies, go to museums, hang out with other creatives, practice martial arts and think about ‘what ifs’, which all in turn help me have a big imagination, it’s all a big part that helps my creative side stay fresh and consistent.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a DJ and music producer from LA that goes by the name of Care. I produce Future Funk music that’s a new style of EDM. The most exciting thing about what I do is sharing this new music to people and seeing them experience something completely new.
Care is here to make people dance and share his take on his style of music thru the music he produces.
I have a bunch of new music releases this year and just dropped a new song ” Care’s Revenge” which is the next chapter for me production wise.
I have events this summer with Team Discotheque, CheckedInLA and Gravity Bookings in Los Angeles and I hope to see you there!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The time I spent in marching band, orchestra and music production classes helped me have the knowledge to create all the music I have been releasing. I give a special thanks to my mom for pushing my early music career.
Meeting LA DJs – Nite Patrol, 96Fm, Mr. Chibes for helping me learn how to DJ and giving me a platform to promote myself thru our collective Team Discotheque.
My martial arts teach Eric Carr for helping me find myself again and develop skill like being consistent, dedicated and focused which I brought along into other realms of my life

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth in the past 12 months have been networking and meeting new people who have the same dreams, concepts and drive as I do and I’m very happy to have met all of them
