We were lucky to catch up with Marion Weist recently and have shared our conversation below.
Marion, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Can you believe that confidence is actually something that you can practice at? In my early 20s I really struggled with finding my own identity, voice and strength around other people. I didn’t feel like I fit in anywhere. That negative self talk really sabotaged the person I really was. From they won’t trust you because you’re too young, you don’t have a college education, to even as grandiose as nobody likes you. So I knew something needed to change and I knew that it was just a pattern that I picked up somewhere; to not believe in myself. That’s actually when I found hypnosis. Learning how to build my confidence and defeat the sabotage simply, easily and quickly using the skills taught with hypnosis really changed my life. I saw such a difference in a matter of months that I knew that I had to teach other people the same things. That other people also struggled with imposter syndrome, negative self talk, not believing in themselves, and so many things that I struggled with that I knew and had discovered that hypnosis could solve it and change other people’s lives. I couldn’t keep the secret to myself. Other people deserved to have the freedom to live the life that they what and not be trapped by negative self talk.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have been a hypnotist and a trainer for over 17 years. My passion is to teach people how to see themselves through the eyes of how they were designed to be, by God, the universe for whoever/ whatever they believe in. Whether that’s a strong confident business person who has No Fear of public speaking. Or someone that’s carried around so much baggage their whole life it manifests into bad eating habits that leaves them unhealthy and with hypnosis they can shed the weight. Or really just begin to love themselves for who they are and who they’ve been designed to be. There are no mistakes, and teaching people how to love themselves beyond the patterns they been stuck in. I have seen people have real change in their lives, using hypnosis, and that’s why I keep doing what I’m doing. Everybody deserves to be free to live the life they’ve been designed to live.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
First and foremost the best thing that could have ever happened to me was to have a mentor right out of the gate. Somebody who would walk with me through all of my questions, all of my uncertainty and all of my mistakes. So find somebody who has zero judgment and that their goal is to see you succeed. 2nd I would say really being humble with the decisions or mistakes that I made in the first year or two so that I didn’t have to repeat them and I could work it out with my mentor or team. So letting go of the fear and justice take the learnings from my choices as a business person was a huge benefit.
And third have a model or someone you can ‘method act’ and really match their values actions and beliefs. Step out of your own patterns, step out of yourself, and really become how they live their life to be successful for three months or six months umm. It really will cut down the learning curve and you will see a quicker positive result in your business. Do you look up to Steve Jobs? Then what did he do when he woke up? how did he act? how did he communicate? what actions did he do every day? And match him, become him for a moment, and really start seeing the difference in your patterns versus theirs and you will clearly see what’s needed for you to have success.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The person who has been the most important in my life personally and professionally. Has been Scott McFall. He is my mentor and after many years he is my friend. Without his feedback, his unwavering heart to have the people around him be the best versions of themselves I would not be here in this profession today. It is been an incredible gift, Which has now turned into an entire team of trainers in the Master Hypnotist Society where we all have the same goal for each other and we support each other and help each other personally and professionally. So find your team; find your mentor
