Meet Marisa Sturino

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marisa Sturino. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marisa below.

Marisa, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I keep my creativity alive by surrounding myself with other creatives! I’m blessed enough to have lots of creatives in the family, and we are always inspiring each other by what we do.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a wedding stationery designer based out of Montreal, Canada. I first got interested in the wedding industry planning my own wedding – it was a challenge finding reasonably priced wedding stationery and so I decided to create my own. I enjoyed the process so much that I decided I would take the jump and create a small business focused on budget friendly but designer quality wedding stationery that is tailor made to every bride-to-be’s dream wedding!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One major quality that is extremely important (especially in the wedding industry) is resilience in the face of rejection. This is a lesson I’ve had to learn time and time again, as I dip my toes into such a competitive market. My products don’t speak to everyone, and it’s hard to stand out in the crowd. I’ve had to learn to be okay with rejection, and along the way I’ve discovered the joy and passion that comes with meeting the needs of the clients I do have the pleasure of working with. One piece of advice I would give is not to give up when things are hard. There are so many opportunities to grow and learn and hone your area of expertise that throwing in the towel would be such a shame to do.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
This definitely has to be my amazing husband! He is always encouraging me to try something new, step outside of my comfort zone, and perfect my craft to give my clients an excellent experience.
