Meet Marissa Bloedoorn

We were lucky to catch up with Marissa Bloedoorn recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Marissa, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I believe my pursuit for purpose began when I was a little girl. Something inside of me was always telling me there was more to this life than what was in plain sight. As a little girl being the youngest of three siblings I was always alone. I learned how to play by myself, talk to and with myself, and most importantly I knew how to conversate with God. I’d ask God about everything. My number one love langauge is communication which equals quality of time. I would talk to God about me and the world around me. As a child I had no idea what I was doing, it was simply natural for me to speak with God about life, purpose and people. My mother wasn’t a church goer when I was a little girl. We attended church during the holidays. My Aunt Paulie on the other hand was a davout Christian. She served as an active member of St. John’s Baptist Church is Scotch Plains, New Jersey my entire young years. My mother would send us to church with my Auntie. Now what I found interesting when I had my children was how although children are sent to children’s church and are told these wonderful stories of key players in the bible, adults failed as far as I was exposed to church as a child to translate those stories into real life application of the Word of God in life. Children are left to simply see them as great powerful in some cases stories…..not real life lessons to be learn and principles to practice in life. There’s a gap that is missing for children, young people, and young adults to understand that what happened in the bible for those individuals that God is ready willing and able to do it for them in their lives. It would be years later that attending church with my Auntie and all those conversations I was having with God (which I refer to Him as my Heavenly Father “Abba”) would finally pay off!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Walking in alignment with my life’s assignment and as the Editor-in-Chief of “OWN It!” Magazine & Publishing & CEO of TCS Consulting (a Leadership and Organizational Development company). I help individuals do the same, find their life’s purpose and then figure out how to live it out where in their life, career, or business. It is my mission to influence and support those who desire to live a fulfilling life by tapping into and unleashing their unlimited potential and to truly and wholeheartedly be fully liberated.

Getting in alignment with your life’s assignment is a never ending journey filled with excitement as you become more and more aware of “self” as you get to “Know Thy Self” Starting with self-awareness, self-love through self-development, self-perservation, drive, determination through self-mastery. Learning to embrace and fall in love with all of who are you; the good, the bad, the ugly and indifferent. Being cool with know you nor anyone else is perfect, that God loves you unconditionally just the way you are! Heck He’s the one who designed you that way, on purpose with purpose! As you cry out to God for a better understanding of yourself, how you are wired, as you ask yourself the questions of what matters most to me in life, what makes me tick and what ticks me the heck off and what triggers me, why do I respond the way I do so those triggers, and how do “I” not anyone else navigate through this thing called life to get the results I desire. It is a journey to awaking the Giant within with the purpose of showing up in this life with the BEST ME, I AM MEANT AND WILL BE! To go after everything you were meant to experience in this life before you leave this earth. To live a life filled to overflow so much that you have so much to give to others so you live a life fully serving others a life that is poured out to many.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Know and Trust YOURSELF! Others will always cause you to doubt yourself, but you must know yourself so you make the decisons for your life that are great for you….not for others.

I’m a finisher! Therefore I am very focused….because I have chosen in life those things that make me “HIGH” that means I’m addicted to my purpose therefore I go after it with all my heart, I need a daily fix of it! Your “WHY in Life” Must Make You HIGH!

I”m OPEN! You must be ready to PIVOT when the direction has changed for whatever reason. Don’t get in your own way because you don’t understand or know everything immediately. I have learned to accept the fact that I may never know why. That isn’t always as important as knowing “what must be done and to be willing to shift when everything is pointing you in another direction.” Don’t miss your opportunity experience some of the most important, priceless moments in life because you just had to know everything.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

I’m always looking for folks to collaborate with! Team work makes the dream work.

My parents made an incredible impact on my life, how I see myself and the world around me. My fathers was adventurers and taught me to never be afraid. My biological father called me “MOOSE” that is very large in size and powerful…. I’m small in size but like the moose I am a very powerful being. Phillip was an intelligent and charming man who taught me about social classes and politics as a little girl. I spent summers with him when my parents divorced. I aquired my love of communication and quality time through my times with him. My stepfather Clarence would teach me how to handle myself in the world or the “streets” he taught me critical thinking and how to “OWN” who I am without apology. Clarence was their when I had to fight the bullies growing up and there were plenty of bullies. I am a light-skinned woman with hazel eyes, girls were always ready to fight. Like I said, I’m little but powerful after one encounter with me the other girls would bow out gracefully. Clarence would be there if I needed to make sure the fight was fair. I believe it is because of these two men along with my Heavenly Father that I was not afraid to make the decision to take of residence in the Dominican Republic when the opportunity presented itself three years ago. Unafraid and ready having never left the US, no passport in hand, wihtout ever seeing the country I moved everything in 2022. So thankful I did, I LOVE IT HERE!!! Now my mother Noreen! She taught me to have class, to love all unconditionally, to be fair and kind to others. She demonstrated excellence in acumen and she is the reason I am successful in running my business. Every skill I needed to make my business a success came from her. My parents didn’t know who their child was and would become, they showed up in my life the best they could with what they had and I pray that I have honored them with my life and all that I have accomplished. And I have accomplished a lot!
