We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marissa Puryear (Mitty) and Latoye Rahming (Lala) a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mitty and Lala, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

We found our purpose through our shared love for travel and helping others. We’ve always had a passion for turning hobbies into something meaningful, and travel planning became a way for us to share that joy with people. In 2023, a year that was both the hardest and most transformative for us, we realized that travel wasn’t just a passion—it was our true calling. It saved us during tough times and gave us a sense of relief and freedom every time we boarded a plane. Planning trips brings us peace, and we love handling the stress of travel details—researching, budgeting, and organizing—so others can focus on the experience itself. We’re determined to inspire others to travel, try new activities, and have experiences that are not only affordable but also incredibly healing for the mind. Ultimately, it’s about taking the stress off others and helping them connect with the world in a way that brings joy, love, and growth.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in our journey have definitely been patience, openness to change and learning, and consistency. Patience is key—good things take time, and the process can be slow, but it’s worth the wait. We’ve learned that you don’t have to know everything upfront; it’s all about staying open to new ideas, learning through trial and error, and being willing to grow along the way. The ability to network and stay organized also helped us a lot—setting deadlines and expectations keeps us on track, and consistency in our work, even on tough days, has been vital.

Our advice for those just starting out is to embrace patience and consistency. Stay determined, even on days when you feel like you don’t have the energy or motivation. Give just a little bit each day, and remember that learning and growing are part of the journey. Don’t worry about being perfect or knowing everything—focus on being open, learning as you go, and staying organized. It’s all about the little steps that lead to big progress!
