We recently connected with Mark Mack and have shared our conversation below.
Mark, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Growing up in a small Alabama town my grandparents played a vital role and was one of my biggest examples of resilience. My grandparents were married for over 50 years they had ups and down but never gave up on each other. That type of loyalty is rare and it taught me to never give up on my dreams. My grandma lost a battle to diabetes recently but I never heard her complain even after being wheelchair bound and being a double amputee. That type of resilience made me want to go harder and become someone in life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a content creator actor and comedian from Camden, Alabama. I started doing funny videos on social media just as a hobby but after viral video after viral video I started to take it serious. I have been a social media influencer for over 3 years now I have over a million followers and over 500,000 subscribers on YouTube. Last year my videos had over 80 million views. I’m really proud of how far I have came I remember having zero followers and people telling me nothing but negative things. To anyone with a dream dont give up your time is coming.I have truly fell in love with content creating and I’m currently working on launching my first podcast. I’m also working on some voiceover animation for some upcoming films. In 2024 I plan on launching my own adult swim cartoon entitled Slow Down Peewee. I’m excited for the growth and the support I have from my fan base. Thankyou for the opportunity I’m truly blessed.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The biggest quality for me would be consistency. I see content creators go viral and don’t post for months and lose momentum. My motto is great content consistently. Might sound simple but it’s not easy content creators have so much competition and you have to be creative and make your content different and engaging and most importantly entertaining. This will keep viewers coming back and grow your audience. Secondly I would say routine. A healthy routine is so important for a content creator because once you get in a good creative routine of making great content everything runs smoothly.
Lastly would be build a team. I can’t stress this enough sure you could maybe do everything yourself but you’re going to get burned out. Building a team to help you make great content is vital for success .
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The most important book I ever read besides the Bible was Steve Harvey “Jump”. I could relate to him being from the south and trying to make it in the entertainment business. His personal story of sleeping in his car and barely having money to get to his first big time opportunity on ShowTime at the Apollo was inspirational. In the book Steve said if you want to be successful you have to Jump. The parachute wont open right away so you going to get some bumps and bruises along the way, but jump again. One day the parachute will open and you will soar.
