We recently connected with Markeisha Similton and have shared our conversation below.
Markeisha, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my self esteem by reading the Bible. I learned that I was created in His image and He only could dictate what was deemed good or bad, worthy or unworthy because He is the Creator of all things
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a Makeup Artist who specializes in soft glam that enhances natural beauty…what I like to call the “s’natural” look. I work with brides and everyday women who want to feel like the best version of themselves without feeling overly done-up.
What excites me most is creating a calm, luxurious experience for my clients, especially brides, where they feel seen, heard, and celebrated. There’s something really special about helping someone feel beautiful in a way that still feels like them.
Right now, I’m expanding into teaching! I recently launched private lessons and group Signature Look Classes to help women learn how to apply makeup confidently and effortlessly. It’s been so rewarding to watch people light up when they finally “get” their look.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are:
Consistency: it kept me moving forward, even when things felt slow or unnoticed. It’s not always about big wins but about showing up, staying present, and letting your work speak over time.
Faith: It carried me through the uncertain seasons, the times when I couldn’t see the full picture but chose to believe in the vision anyway. Faith, for me was trusting that the seeds I was planting would eventually grow.
Persistence: That’s what helped me keep going when I felt discouraged or overlooked. It’s the quiet push to keep trying, keep refining, and keep showing up even when results aren’t immediate.
For anyone early in their journey:
Start with small, consistent actions. Don’t underestimate the power of daily effort.
Stay grounded in your why. Let your faith in the bigger picture guide your decisions.
And be willing to persist through the awkward and quiet seasons. That’s where your foundation gets built.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes! I’m definitely open to partnering with hairstylists and wedding planners who are also passionate about creating effortless, elevated bridal experiences. If you’re someone who values calm energy, timeless beauty, and truly taking care of your clients, then we’re already aligned.
I love collaborating with professionals who understand that it’s not just about the final look or event, it’s about the feeling we leave our brides with.
If you’re reading this and feel like we’d work well, I’d love to connect! You can reach out to me directly through Instagram or send an email my way. Let’s create something beautiful together.
