Meet Maroc Price-bey

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Maroc Price-bey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Maroc, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Confidence and Self Esteem comes from having a healthy self image of who you are and what you are capable of achieving in life.
It comes from early childhood of how you were raised and the information that was given to you about looking at people in the eye when you talked to them.
Learning to ride a bike or swimming as a youth were huge accomplishments.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m an author, life coach, Barber Instructor for the inner city youth that comes from marginalized communities of Washington DC I teach Life Skill and personal development as it relates to the principles of chess. My Nonprofit is Next Bedt Movement Inc and my for profit is Strategic Thinking Life Skills.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Growth Mindset, Resilience and The Power of Imagination. These were vital components in my Life that helped me to overcome and continue to move forward when there wasn’t any light at the end of the tunnel. My Imagination is connected to the Faith I developed looking at the brighter side of things knowing that trouble don’t last always and the Growth mindset comes from believing in my ability to improve each day with consistent self discipline.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

As a Man thinker by James Allen, was one of the books that opened my mind up to see life from the perspective of know that my thoughts created my circumstances, my behavior and ultimately my destiny.
One of my favorite quotes was circumstances don’t make a Man it reveals him to himself.
