Meet Marquis Jonkins

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marquis Jonkins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marquis below.

Marquis, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?

Taking risks was my only choice to better myself and everyone around me. My grandfather always instilled me to believe in myself. The lack of opportunity made me want more out of life. Basically seeing how life was for me and my brothers we all knew that the only way for us make it out our grandparents home was to take risks. Never worrying about failure and being ok with whatever happens as long as I gave it my all.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a published author, community advocate, and entrepreneur. A graduate of Texas Southern University School of Business. As a music enthusiast, I launched a digital music streaming app tailored to help underground creatives get global exposure called HipHopstreets. We have recently launched the HHS Insurance Group to help creators get affordable healthcare coverage. We are in the process changing the streaming music world with the new upgrades to the HipHopstreets Livestream Music App. Stay tuned.

My book is registered with the Library of Congress, “Praying For A Better Day” and called be found on Amazon.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Courage , Self Discipline and networking skills are 3 of my top qualities.
I developed my courage by not following the crowds and listening to people with no vision.
My self-discipline came from my failures. Once you self-check yourself and realize that only if you would have did this and that how much better your life would have been. I developed patience and understanding to not rush my goals.
I love to network and meet new people but I make sure I turn my network into a contact.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

HipHopStreets Livstream Streaming Platform plans to monetize the underground markets not only in the U.S, but in various countries around the world. Streams are streams no matter where they come from and downloads are downloads whether it’s in the U.S or in other countries across the world. HipHopStreets has a tech product to capture a percentage of the USA national street untapped market and a percentage of the global market through Hip Hop Streets, a platform for the underground artists to market, stream and distribute their Hip Hop music and talent globally online. We have a great opportunity to start off in Ghana and Nigeria through strategic partnerships with people who already are working in these countries. We will become the platform to connect not only music lovers and music artists, but also creatives from all over the world that empowers Hip
Hop. We are currently seeking investors to help us expand and grow in the tech world. If interested please email me [email protected].
