Meet Marshall Steingold

We recently connected with Marshall Steingold and have shared our conversation below.

Marshall, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from never being totally happy to rest on my laurels. I am always seeking the next opportunity. I try to look at the trends and analyze statistics and the world around me. Styles of communication and marketing change quickly. It’s important to be able to react to that change, and move forward To stay on the cutting edge.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
MiamiMaps started more than 20 years ago. My background in public relations, marketing, and tourism came together to form this company. At the beginning, it was about selling advertising and distributing the printed maps in hotels. Over the years, we have had to employ an interactive website, various social media platforms, and other ways of distribution to keep current in this ever-changing world. Fortunately, when people travel, they still want to receive a paper guide map from their hotel that directs them to the history, shopping, restaurants, real estate, and more.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My three skills that were most impactful on my business are persistence, persistence, and persistence. My advice for folks who are early in their journey is to keep making mistakes. Don’t be afraid of those mistakes. Learn and keep moving forward. I don’t know of anyone, who rode the elevator to success without having a few bumps. Embrace those bumps and take what you’ve learned to continue forging on is what separates success from mediocrity.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking for someone who is energetic and has a similar vision to collaborate with. Whether it involves advertising sales, graphics, distribution, social media, or the entire business itself. It takes a special person to want to go out on their own and chart their course. I’m always meeting people and looking for those special qualities.
