Martell, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
In a world where creativity seems to get harder and harder to come by, I find my inspiration tucked away in the most unexpected places – like movies and music. There’s something about the way a character comes to life on screen or a melody pulls at my heartstrings that sets my mind ablaze with ideas. It’s as if I’m taken on a journey to a world that’s waiting to be explored. And when I stumble upon a look that I feel particularly drawn to, I make it my mission to transform it into something that’s uniquely mine. That’s the beauty of creativity – there are no limits, only endless possibilities.

In case any of the readers have not perused my earlier write-ups, I am Martell Washington from DadFashion, a social media fashion influencer. The aim of my brand is to aid fathers in improving their dressing sense and becoming more at ease in their own skin. Additionally, I assist people in discovering their personal style by sharing my own fashion choices and offering styling advice. What distinguishes me from other influencers is my authenticity as a regular working individual, a devoted spouse, and a doting parent. Despite my hectic schedule, I love curating fashion content.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Throughout my journey, a few pivotal areas have left an indelible mark on my growth. Foremost, I learned how to proficiently market my abilities and have been fortunate enough to have individuals and companies put their faith in me. Secondly, I honed in on the art of embracing criticism, utilizing it as a tool to better myself instead of surrendering to its sting. Furthermore, I trained my eye to envision greatness in ventures that had yet to manifest, certain that they would one day become major successes. Above all, a sturdy support system was critical and consistent, along with a consistent dedication to perfecting my craft, regardless of the pursuit.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My parents always told me I would be someone great. They sowed a seed into me at an early age and that’s why I am succeeding today.
