Meet Martine Resnick

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Martine Resnick. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Martine below.

Martine, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I recently read something by Oprah on integrity …stay with me here!

she said; “Integrity is not about always doing the right thing no matter what, it’s about alignment.” She goes on to say the beauty of integrity is we never have to spend time or energy questioning ourselves because our beliefs and actions work in perfect harmony.

To me living in alignment is interwoven with living into your purpose. They are inseparable, if we’re not living in alignment (connecting our beliefs to our actions) we will never live into our purpose.

We’re not born knowing our life’s purpose and finding it is not a linear path. I also don’t believe our purpose is a static destination, it evolves with us, depending on how willing we are to grow.

Gina Pell coined the term “Perennial Women”. The perennial generation is ever-growing, ever-blooming at any age or stage.
Perennials are never a finished product. The more curious we are, the more we explore, the more we play, and the variety of different situations we put ourselves in (especially uncomfortable ones) the more we learn about ourselves.

To me living into your purpose is all about the energy that pushes us forward to keep learning, growing, and blooming. With that in mind, I would say I’m still on the path and evolving my purpose, I hope to be for a long time ahead. I have also come a long way, I started life with a pretty strong compass, I was a strong-willed child but I also learned that conforming, people-pleasing, and doing performative work was the easier path. For a time.

Looking back I can see that I’ve tried to conform and then rebelled every step of the way. My goal is to smooth that curve and better sidestep the situations where there is only one acceptable version of success.

Some of my biggest milestones and a-ha moments have come through;

– Competitive sports, they have taught me about goals and teamwork, plus what achievement and failure feel like.

– Growing up in nature taught me what peace, rest and rejuvenation look like.

– Having lots of interests, and hobbies and working across different industries taught me inspiration and ideas often come from unexpected sources.

– Moving to different countries helped me get very clear on what my values are and are not. It also helped me see the world from different experiences, cultures, and points of view.

– Having children made doing something to make this world better urgent. It also squashed my need to people please.

– Corporate culture taught me the value of relationships and that I am repelled by toxic competitiveness and hustle culture.

– Starting over and launching a space and community for professional women taught me the importance of support, connection and not going it alone.

– Watching other women build purpose-driven businesses made it clear to me that I want to be part of that energy, learn from them, and help others succeed too.

Right now my purpose is to continue to work with female founders and women entrepreneurs to empower them to do work that inspires them, focus on their goals, create purpose-driven businesses that help them live into their values and support them financially, plus, find the freedom and courage to live life on their own terms.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hey, I’m Martine. I’m a marketing strategist, educator/mentor/coach, and community builder. I work with purpose-driven female founders and women-owned businesses to create holistic marketing strategies and marketing systems that leverage the power of networking, collaboration, and community building.

I have over 20 years of marketing experience launching and growing brands and products for global companies both in the US and across Europe including Estee Lauder’s Bumble and bumble, and WarnerMedia’s Cartoon Network, TNT Drama and TBS.

I have also founded two businesses, The Lola, a women’s only coworking space, community and digital platform and Fig Digital, where I create holistic marketing strategies for women-owned businesses and purpose-driven founders that leverage the power of community.

Where are you getting stuck in your business? Are you struggling in a specific area? Does it all feel harder than it needs to? I’m here to help, let’s schedule a free 30-minute consultation so we can talk through your specific needs.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have been most impactful in my journey are;

– Community. No matter what you do in life you will do it faster, smarter, and more successfully if you ask for help, learn from others and build your support system.

– Curiosity. I’m always willing to read, develop new skills, and learn about a variety of different topics. I read a lot and typically have 3-to 4 books on the go at once plus a couple of courses or masterminds too! I take a lot of notes and try to implement the learnings as I go to make sure the lessons become reality and not a forgotten, dusty memory on the bookshelf.

– Change. I am easily bored and love to shake things up. Change can be big or small, like changing up your routine, adding variety and play into your day, starting a new hobby, taking a trip, or even moving to another country. Every time I make a change I feel refreshed, rejuvenated and inspired to tackle the next big milestone.
