Marvena , we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
My self-care involves brunch somewhere in downtown Houston, getting my nails perfected, and bouncing from store to store. I’ve noticed when my cup is full & I feel good, I’m able to flourish in what I do & also pour into others.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a photographer + content creator. I love that with both concepts I can creatively be myself & put ideas I have in my head to life. I’m all for authenticity. Whether I’m capturing a woman transition into motherhood or documenting a new brunch spot, it’s going to offer an authentic feel.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
– Good things take time, don’t rush it. – Take time to perfect your craft.
– Don’t be so hard on yourself.
My favorite of those is to breathe & take your time. I consider a journey like a ladder & you can’t magically be at the top of the ladder. Climb each step & with each one comes the opportunity to learn something new or build a new skill.
