We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mary King a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mary, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is crazy right? I mean I never knew it was a thing until I was an adult. I used to compare myself to others.One night I was sitting back thinking about life and my goals ,where I am and where I want to be. That’s when it hit me I may not be a huge corporation or have a retail shop but I’m still a business owner. I actually have talent and I’m great at making candles. That’s when I realized I’m not an imposter and it was okay to embrace the joy in being a business owner no matter how small my business is. MY DREAMS ARE REALITY and I’m really Proud of the Candles I create.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Kings3candles now has 8 different fragrances. I’m looking to expand in the future. My goal for 2025 is to get my name out there. Hit marketing really hard, I know once people buy a candle from me they will love it. I have many repeat customers and it brings me so much joy. I started in 2023 and my 5 year goal is to be able to make this a full time career.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The best advice I have is to remind yourself to TRUST THE UNIVERSE and DIVINE TIMING and stop comparing yourself or business to the next.I remind myself constantly, what is meant for me will find me. The people who cross paths with me and my business are meant to.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

Each candle is handmade and soy, When I make each batch I add a little spell and manifest that anyone who buys the candle or receives the candle as a gift gets an abundance of HEALTH, WEALTH, LOVE & LIGHT.
Each package comes with little crystal pebbles that have been cleansed under a full moon.
I find most of my customers are spiritual diverse and open minded…. I LOVE THAT!
