Mary, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose when I began learning music at a young age. I was a shy and timid kid, so naturally I would always have trouble expressing who I was. That was until I joined my elementary orchestra in fifth grade! I learned to play Viola and quickly grew fascinated with the ability to feel emotions through music! It didn’t take long for me to realize that music was going to be a part of me forever. As I grew older I branched out and learned how to play acoustic guitar and took vocal lessons. This is when I truly felt myself grow because I started to write songs and I was finally able to express myself! It wasn’t until recent years that I started to share my music on stage, which is where I am at currently finding my purpose!

Hello beautiful souls! My name is Mary Soul, I am a contemporary folk musician and songwriter from Texas. I started performing in orchestra concerts as well as church choirs at a young age, which I believed helped me become the musician I am today. It gave me the courage, confidence, and discipline to be able to learn acoustic guitar in my teen years! It wasn’t the easiest task, and I quit more than a handful of times, but after several years of turning down almost every social gathering and after dedicating all my time, sweat, blood and tears, I was finally creating the music that helped me express who I was! I have been nervous of going out into the world with my guitar to share my art, but that’s exactly the plan for 2026! My goal is to be more musically active in social media and doing live performances! A huge success so far is the release of my first song “The Truth” which is available to stream on all platforms! I am currently working and composing my second single and rehearsing for performances around DFW!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Dedication, Patience, and Love.
I believe these three words are what helped me grow to the person I am now and I believe they will continue to carry me to more than I can be. Dedicate not just your time, but your whole soul! Have patience with your passion, but more importantly, have patience with yourself! But over all, love. It may sound cliche, but fall in love with your passion, and you will succeed!
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Everyday, for the past 4 years, I face my worst nightmare by accepting that my mother is no longer by my side. She was my first supporter and my best friend. A few months before she went to heaven she gifted me my first ever Taylor acoustic guitar, which I named Kaleidoscope, and it became my performing guitar ever since. I don’t get to physically converse with her anymore, but I believe the music I create with Kaleidoscope reaches her realm! That thought alone is what keeps me going because my soul can’t wait to be next to her again!
