Meet Maryna Slynko

We recently connected with Maryna Slynko and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Maryna with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I believe my work ethic was shaped long before I ever entered the beauty industry. I grew up in a family where hard work wasn’t just a value — it was a way of survival. From a young age, I watched my parents do everything they could to provide for us, never complaining, just moving forward no matter how difficult things were. That example became the foundation of who I am. When I began my career as a nail artist, I quickly realized that talent alone isn’t enough. Discipline, consistency, and respect for people are what truly build trust and a lasting name. I worked long hours, often studying until late at night, practicing new techniques, experimenting with materials, and developing my own system of salon standards and education. Even after moving to another country and starting completely from scratch, that same work ethic carried me through. It helped me rebuild everything — my studio, my brand, and my reputation. For me, work isn’t just something I do — it’s how I express gratitude for every opportunity life gives me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Maryna Slynko, and I’m the founder of Slynko Beauty Bloom Studio in Overland Park, Kansas. I specialize in modern European and Slavic-style manicure techniques that focus on precision, safety, and natural aesthetics. My work combines clean minimalism with a deep respect for the health of the nails and skin.

What makes my work unique is that I’ve developed my author technique of combined manicure with oil sealing of the cuticle, which provides a smoother finish and healthier nail regrowth compared to traditional methods. I also design and patent professional cuticle polishing bits — tools that help other nail artists work more comfortably, precisely, and safely.

Through my studio and educational programs, I aim to bring the high standards of European manicure to the U.S., supporting both clients and professionals who value quality and attention to detail.

Currently, I’m developing Slynko Beauty Bloom Studio in Kansas, enhancing my training programs, and preparing a series of professional materials on the combined manicure technique for specialists. I’m also working on my own line of professional cuticle polishing bits, which is now in the patenting process in the United States.
In addition, I participate in international nail championships and judging, representing both Ukraine and the United States on the international stage, and promoting the standards of safe and high-quality manicure.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I would say that the three qualities that shaped my journey the most are determination, adaptability, and dedication to quality.

Determination helped me move forward even when the path felt uncertain or too challenging. It gave me the strength to go beyond what’s familiar and create something of my own — my technique, my studio, and my professional tools.
Adaptability allowed me to adjust to life and work in a new country, to see every change not as an obstacle but as an opportunity to grow.
And dedication to quality became my professional credo. For me, it’s never about speed — it’s about precision, respect for the craft, and genuine care for the client.

My advice to those who are just starting out: don’t be afraid of the journey that takes time. It’s not about fast results — it’s about consistent growth toward true mastery, and that’s what eventually opens real doors to success.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who values quality, precision, and trust. I work best with people who understand that a manicure is not just about color or trend — it’s about care, health, and beauty that lasts. I appreciate clients who respect the process, allow time for the work to be done properly, and share my belief that true results come from patience and attention to detail.

Most of my regular clients come because they want clean, healthy, and natural-looking nails. We build long-term relationships based on honesty and comfort, not rush or pressure. For me, every service is a collaboration — when both sides value respect and quality, the result always feels right.
