Meet Matanya Bar shalom

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Matanya Bar shalom. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Matanya below.

Hi Matanya , appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
Fortunately, I am already 66 years old, an elderly person, I have raised six children, I have gained a lot of experience in life, so my confidence and optimisim came from my experience in life. I know that everything is for the good!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Matanya Bar-shalom, 66 years old, mother of 6 children and a grandmother of 3 grandchildren.
I started acting at the age of 58, before that I was a holistic therapist for 35 years. In my past’ I was an assistant director in the theater but I didn’t dare to act because I had a fear of the audience.
At the age of 58, when my youngest son went to the army I decided to try and signed to be an extra, to check what’s up with my fear. Immediately i realized that I want to act, so I started to learn acting school, I took a course there and then I met the Chubbuck method whice came from Hollywood, it’s Ivana chubbuch technique. I’ve been in the studio for 8 months and since then i’m studying with her on zoom masterclass once a week for 4 years.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
What I would say is: what made me get to where I am because I really only started acting at the age of 58 and today I am already with Ivana in Hollywood. First of all, perseverance not to give up for a moment on ourselves. Hard work. I work very hard I. do workshops I do all kinds of courses I developmy self as an actress. But above all, above all, the persistence not to fall for a moment, to put our goal in front of our eyes and go in its direction with joy and pleasure.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I’m really lucky that I got to meet Ivana Chubbuck, she is my mentor my teacher my guide she is my miracle in life because to really start acting at the age of 58 is not easy. She’s the one who supports me in everything, also the method itself is a method of empowerment. It empowers the human being, makes him grow stronger and become a much more alive and real human being in this world, so really my great inspiration, my teacher, my mentor, Ivana Chubbuck
